Hi Shirley I also get that and have done ever since I went through and past the menopause - I am 61.   I think it is something to do with your temperature control going haywire after the change of life.

I have to be cool in bed otherwise I can't sleep (or breathe properly - probably the copd as well).

You need to make sure you have plenty of air circulating in your bedroom at night so keeping a window open is a good idea or a fan.   I use mine mostly in the summer and it doesn't disturb my sleep and hasn't done after the first couple of uses.

I don't know whether you stll get hot flushes - I do a bit still and some women have them  forever and obviously this doesn't help either.  I hope this helps.       Bev x

I'm 68 and have been saying for years that my thermostat needs replacing:   as I posted earlier, I'm 68 and still occasionally have hot flushes for no apparent reason, except the occasional alcoholic drink usually does it.

I think there's a common misconception that menopause is an event - ie, the cessation of menstruation, when actually it's quite a long process leading up to and after that.

      You are right jude65855

And some women go thru it for years...like my mother did and suffer quite a bit. And some have nearly no side affects, like me, just some occasional night sweats, but thank God for that!!!

I have been having night sweats for many years now and as I went through the change over 10 years ago due to chemo, the doctors have put it all down to meds I take.

I would mention it to your GP though as night sweats can also be a warning sign of other ilnesses sometimes.

I don't think male doctors in particular can understand how horrible it is to wake up drenched in sweat.  This morning my bedding was drenched through to the mattress in places.  Horrible!
