    Hi Barry,

Thanks yes i've decided to become Marigold's 2nd in command!! I think I could have a new career ahead of me! :-)

I am just back from Doctor this morning, I walked in and she said oh your levels are quite low I said I know what happens now she said I don't know!!!

I told her how I was feeling and that I had stopped the Carbs and she said oh I think you should be still taking some Carbs, I said surely thyroxin if anything. So she signed me off for another 2 weeks and said she would call the Endo and call me back. Right enough she did call back and I've to stop everything for a month and see if the drop in my levels is definately due to the RAI. So I have to have another blood test in a month to see what's going on. Not feeling quite so bad today so trying to keep calm and carry on.

    Hope everyone else okay?

    Hi kat,

Glad your feeling ok your levels might balance out after a few weeks off the carbs mine did.

like i said i was actually feeling quite good since my rai in december and hadn't took carbs up until 2 weeks ago hence why i think im feeling drained.

Should get my bloods back tomorrow i havn't took any tablets today they just make me feel worse.

Hello everybody. I've been on babysitting duty. smile I've lots more energy than I had, but I find it hard to keep up with a nearly two year old. smile It sounds like there's been all sorts going on with everyone.

Hi Kat. I'm pleased you've got a doctorate in thyroidology. I think you can be 1st in command and I'll be 2nd. You'll be so pleased you're going hypo. Your GP sounds as good as mine. It's coming to something when we have to tell them what treatment we should be on.My lowest T4 was 10 and my TSH was 15 at that time. My TSH has been very low

since I went on thyroxine (below1), but the endo says the TSH level isn't that important when you're taking thyroxine. Barry is right your levels might level out now you're off carbs. I hope your next blood test is ok.

    Take care.

Hi Barry. I can't understand why the endo put you back on carbs either.

He wouldn't give you any thyroxine when you were feeling really poorly before, and then when you're feeling ok he puts you back on carbs and makes you feel ill again. It makes no sense to me. I think you're right not to take the tablets. I think it's quite normal to lose your appetite when you're hypo. I hope you feel better soon. Let us know what your blood results are. Take care.

Hi Sue. So you're hypo at long last? Your T4 is low and your TSH is raised so it shows your pituitary gland is telling your thyroid to produce more thyroxine which it's not able to do so that's why you need thyroxine.

As Kat says they start with a low dose and work up when you have a heart condition. I started at 100 and I'm down to 50 now. So we should meet in the middle  No, I didn't have to have another ECG as my heart was ok. My heart murmur was just because I was hyper. You'll soon feel on top of the world. I feel like I've got my life back. When do you go on holiday? We're not going away this year, I just feel like I want to be at home.

When do you go away Jane? Don't forget we need the caravan for when we all go away together.

Are you ok Bess and Dave?

    love,

    Marigold

    Morning,

Just getting packed up for our week in Devon, actually feeling not too bad just have a sort of dull head like a mild headache in the morning and pulse still lowish but BP is fine. I have to keep telling myself this is what normal feels like (well normal for me) instead of everything racing, it's taking some getting used to though.

Barry did you hear anything yet from your blood test? How are you feeling after a few days drug free?

Marigold I'd like to be referred to as Doctor from now on, you okay to cover me while i'm away, lol :-)

Right better get on, Hubby is at work till 11am and wants to leave soon after meanwhile I have to finish packing, have a final tidy, make lunch and take the dog to the kennels I could do with being hyper today!! I think we have wifi in the cottage so I can check in from Sunny Devon, cream teas here I come :-)

    Hi all,

Glad your feeling abit better kat.

I went to see my gp this morning and tsh has gone up from 0.09 to 1.09 (which is nearer enough 2.00) within the space of 10 days on carbs, but as usual the labs didnt do the t4 and t3 because my gp didnt print it on the form.

I keep telling them this but it keeps happening. :x

Anyway i am guessing the quick hike in my tsh would have dropped my t4 to even lower?? hence why i fealt bad so quickly.

My full blood counts were done and they came back fine.

I feel alot better after a few days off the tablets and my gp was contacting the labs to see if they can still do my tfts otherwise i will have to get my bloods done again.

arrghh the joys of graves ....

    Hi everybody.

Hi Barry. Isn't it a pain when you can't even get your bloods done without a fuss. The same thing happened to me, they did the TSH and not the T4 so I had to have it done again. The last time I had a blood test I told the nurse it was important that I had both done. She said she didn't know how to put it on the form. I told her that there's a box on the form and to type it in there. I felt like saying I'd type it in myself.I'll probably have the same fuss when I go back to the surgery next week.

Your T4 would probably drop if your TSH has gone up. I've started getting awful cramp in my feet and legs when I'm in bed. Don't know whether it's connected to the Graves or not.It probably is, everything else seems to be connected to it.

I hope you get your blood test sorted out and feel better soon.

Enjoy your holiday Kat. Hope everyone else is ok.

    Take care.

    Hello everyone,

What a busy time it seems things are moving for a lot of us.

Barry I too feel pretty rubbish at present and would struggle with other people's incompetance like your nurse and kats doctor!

I'm very tired with aches and pains popping up all over. The occy health doctor struck again, he wants me to have tests for other auto immune illnesses because he thinks they are like buses and when one comes along usually another does. My doc flatly refused, he said I'm going hypo and these are classic symptoms. He wouldn't bring my blood test forward but it's only two weeks so hey ho.

Will be spending the day getting packed up as we leave first thing, not sure if there's wifi or much reception either where we're of to. Hope the weather picks up a bit but it's not essential.

Marigold I will say hello to the piper on the border for you and don't worry the van will be available for our gravers trip as planned,I'm just in training for it!

    Hope everyone else is good

hi everyone ,hope you are enjoying your hols kat and jane ,at least the weathers been good.. After starting on thyroxine for the first few days i felt good had plenty of energy to finish off my kitchen and lean-to but now i only want to sleep ,i fell asleep at 4ish yesterday and had a couple of hours then couldnt wait to get in bed at 10 ,i have 4 more days on the 25mg then go up to 50 so i am hoping i will feel better ...Marigold how are you hunny did you have ups and downs at first ,i feel as if the fog is lifting but get a terrible dry mouth and throat where it feels as if my throat is so dry it closes in and have trouble when i am talking it quite frightening and i have to lick inside of my lips fast to get some saliva. I have not lost any weight even though i am not as hungrey as i was and still have a pout belly.I have managed to do my housework this morning but now feel as if i could get back in bed  and i have all my front to do power washing and fence painting... if you have any engery to spare can you lend me abit

    Hello everyone.

Hi Sue. It sounds like you're ready for the 50 mcg of thyroxine. Don't force yourself to do things, listen to your body. If it's telling you to rest then rest, the jobs you want to do will still be there when you feel better. I must admit I tend to push myself when I feel tired, but it's silly really. smile I would think your throat and mouth will feel better when you get on the right dose of thyroxine.

Yes, I had my ups and downs, but I'm really fine now. My last two bloods have been normal. The first, two months ago was T4 18 TSH 0.27, and the second, a month later, T4 18 and TSH 0.58. It doesn't matter that the TSH is low when you're on thyroxine. I've just spoken to the endo and he says the results are brilliant. I have to have my bloods done in 3 months, then 6 months and then 1 year. I can contact him in the meantime if I don't feel right. So it's taken 8 months from the RAI to get back to normal. I haven't put any weight back on, but I don't look too bad except for my arms. I'm going to get some weights so I might end up with muscles like Popeye.

I need all my energy for this weekend. We're going to decorate, and I have four pairs of long curtains and linings to wash and iron.

    Take care.xxxxxx

How are you Barry. Did you get your bloods done again? I hope you're feeling ok.

I hope the holiday girls are enjoying themselves.

Bess and Dave thinking of you and hoping you're ok.

    Take care everyone.

    love,

Hi everyone, haven't been on here for a week or so. An old friend that I hadn't seen for years came to stay and we spent the whole time talking and eating - I daren't get on the scales. Hope the holiday girls are having a good time, what are you getting up to ? Sue, it does sound as though you are doing a lot, I agree with Marigold, it will all be there when you are feeling better which I hope is very soon. You have really been through it but it sounds as though you are getting there. Marigold, how does your eye feel ? My grandaughter had ops on her eyes when she was hyper and it went very well. I am squeamish about eyes though so I know how you feel. I wish someone would remove some of my excess skin - from all sorts of places ! My last bloods were ok, although I think my GP hasn't got a clue. Thankfully the Path Lab always write on my results and he follows their advice. My T4 was in normal range but Tsh was 5.1, still it had come down from 10. Path Lab say I should be on maintenance dose of carbs of 5 mgs. Maybe they think I will go hyper again without. My GP wanted to leave me on this for six months and then have a blood test but I said no - I would like a blood test in 3 months to see if I can come off carbs, I've already been on them for about 16 months. GP agreed, I'm sure he thinks I'm a pain in the bum. Barry did you say you have also been on carbs for a long time ? I'm feeling fine, taking a small dose of Propanolol 20mgs. twice daily to prevent migraine aura but it makes climbing the hill with the dog a bit slow. Hope to come off them soon. Love to everyone, Bess xx

Morning all,I am feeling ok although I have the odd day of real fatigue if I do to much.

I had my bloods done ok yesterday so awaiting results next week this time with t3 and t4 hopefully done.

It got to the point were my specialist from the hospital was ringing my doctors to ask why the tfts were not being done.

Hopefully now the penny has dropped with them as I give up trying to explain.

I have been told to stay on a low dose of 5mg carbs until my results are reviewed but I have stopped my propanalol which has helped me feel more awake.

    Take care , baz

    Hello all,

Feeling misrable after a lovely break and back to reality with a bump at 6am this morning when it was time to get up for work.

Pleased that everyone seems to be doing better. Sue I hope the thyroxine starts to help more soon. Kat I hope youtoo had a nice time.

Still tired and achey seem to have lost interest in food which is a good job as I am still managing to put the odd pound on eating very little.

    Hi Honeys I'm Home,

Back from our week in Devon, it was lovely, very pretty and some great beaches. We were really lucky with the weather only one morning and one afternoon of misty rain then sunshine and blue skies, in fact I look like I've had a week abroad! Our wee cottage was small but perfectly formed and we had a huge decked garden so we were out taking full advantage with some cold to drink most evenings, I even managed a meal out one night which I haven't done in ages usually too anxious and feeling panicky at the thought of it but I did it and even the kids said they see a big difference in me, much calmer and not fanning myself all the time cause I'm too hot!

So at the moment I'm not feeling too bad, a bit slow and sluggish but once I get going its not to bad, the old memory is not too hot but my friend says she is the same so must be my age rather than the thyroid!! Only thing is I've put back on the 11lbs that I had lost so really not happy about that, it has all gone on in the last two weeks so can't just be holiday eating, can it? Got Doctors appointment tomorrow morning to see how I'm doing and then I think I have a blood test the week after as that would be 4 weeks drug free. I going to ask about going back to work also as really feel I could handle it (god so long as I don't have to remember much!), I only work part-time and hopefully my boss will agree to let me start by doing say Monday, Wednesday, Friday for the first few weeks.

Jane glad you had a lovely holiday too, when we lived nearer Edinburgh we used to go to North Berwick a lot when my two were small in fact I think I went on my first proper date there with my Hubby! When you due for next bloods? How long have you been drug free now?

Sue hope the bigger dose of throxine is making life a bit easier.

Barry you had your T4 results back yet?

Marigold that's great that your levels have come back with not much of a change again, imagine only having to go to do bloods once every 3 months then every 6 months what are you going to do with all your free time? :-)

Bess catching up with your friend must have been lovely, I know what you mean about the scales I keep thinking there is someone else on with me, ha ha! Good for you getting an earlier blood test, I agree that 6 months is far too long to wait.

Right I'm off to tackle the holiday ironing mountain will let you know how I get on at the Docs tomorrow.

    Kat xxxx
