    Hi gang!

Well done Kat, you must be so pleased that you're in the normal range. You got there in the end. I think counselling is a good idea. I've always tried to think things out myself, but when my mum died I think I would have coped better with counselling. I had nobody to talk to. I couldn't talk to close family as it would have upset them even more, so I bottled it all up and made myself ill. I hope it helps you. You'll be looking forward to your holiday.

Hi Sue. I hope you're feeling a bit better. Let's hope the blood tests get to the bottom of things, and they can give you something to make you better. Looking after your husband for all that time must have had some effect on you. What does your GP expect? Take care.xx

Hi Hare. Hope you're feeling a bit better. When I went to the eye clinic it was an afternoon job, I thought it was strange when I went in and people were reading, doing crosswords, knitting etc. I think they gave everyone a 2 pm appointment and then worked their way through them. I have a squint which I've always thought was from the Graves, but I saw someone first who did some tests and said it was congenital. Then I saw a opthalmologist who did eye tests and asked me about my medication. I had to have my height and weight checked too, I don't know what that had to do with anything. Then I saw the consultant. He explained what had happened to my eyes and told me about the various operations I could have. I have droopy eyelids, and he said they could remove some of the skin so I would look like I'm supposed to look. lol. When I was looking at some photos the other day from when I was very young I had droopy eyelids then so I think they've always been like that. Then I had to have some photographs taken, from the front and the side, and then if I go back they'll take some more and compare them to see how much my eyes have changed. Apart from it being a long afternoon, there was nothing to worry about.

Hi Maria. I hope your tummy settles down before you go on holiday, and your thyroid symptoms settle down. Take care.

    Thinking of everyone.

    Hi all,

As I'm starting out on my journey, you'll all know my progress, while I don't know yours too much, which saddens me. It would be nice to find out a bit of history from you all, if you can take the time. Don't worry if you can't, I'll try to catch up!

    Hi All

Thanks for your description of what happened at the eye clinic Marigold. It sounds pretty much like eye casualty - I was there several times before I was diagnosed by a very bright young doctor! Block appointments seem to be the thing in eye departments it seems. So by the sound of it there's not much they can do about it? Probably has to run its course. My eyes don't protrude but I do have blurry vision a lot of the time-not too bad though. I'm still driving, only if a short journey to see to my horse twice a day. The dr. Said I would need to stop driving if I got double vision.

I took your advice and got some artificial tears which have really helped, particularly in the evening when my eyes seem worse, so thanks for that. I don't know if I feel any better yet, some days are better than others but possibly marginally better overall ( today is a good day!)

Kat I hope you feel better soon, I never thought I could feel this bad for such a long time! Having a holiday to look forward to is a good idea, we need to book our holiday but we're waiting til after my scan.

Jackie-as I'm just starting the journey too it would be good to know other peoples experiences. Charlotte gave a precise version of her experience - it helps us to get to know people a little better too.

Thanks again for your advice and encouragement -it is greatly appreciated.

    Hi everyone.

Hi Hare. I'm glad the artificial tears are helping. My eyes are usually worse in the evening too. I've found that using them first thing in the morning helps a lot.I was reading through my post and I sound like Frankensteins monster with my protruding eyes, squint and droopy eyelids. lol. They're hardly noticeable. Honest. lol

I was wondering if anyone had had problems with discoloured fingers. I suddenly noticed last night that my ring finger was purple. There was also slight discolouration on the little finger of my right hand... My wedding ring is usually quite loose and it was tight, so there was obviously some swelling. Today my fingers are still discoloured, but not as bad. They don't hurt and I don't think I've trapped them or anything. Very strange.

Hope everyone else is ok. Thinking of you.

Hi Gang, how are you all ?

Jackie, I think you were asking for some background from us. I went to my GP with weight loss, palpitations, anxiety and rapid pulse. He thought it was anxiety but I specifically asked for a thyroid test, especially as my daughter and granddaughter have thyroid problems, one under, one over. I haven't been referred to an endo, my GP has managed it all with Carbimazole and Propanolol. I took Carbim. for 18 months and now am having blood tests to see how I'm doing without. I was told over 50% of people go over again, fingers crossed I don't.. I do r emember in the early days the two worst things were the racing, thumping heart and that one day I would'nt feel too bad and the next I would feel terrible.

I hope everyone newly diagnosed is getting on ok ?

Sue, I've been thinking of you and wondering how you are feeling now? Keep in touch hun, don't struggle on without a good chat now and again.

Deb, don't seem to have heard from you, are you ok ?

Marigold, how are your purple fingers ? Havve you found out the cause ?

    Elaine, how's things ?

Hope everyone ok, because of this silly layout I cant remember people's posts but am thinking of you all.

    Love

    Firstly, hi Bess,

Thanks for your history. It really helps to understand. I so hope your blood test does well, & you can come off the Carb. Will keep everything crossed for you & for keeping on track in the future. Am ready to give a big cheer!

& hi to all, & look forward to knowing more about you.

    Hare, how are you doing?

I'm getting hives from my Carby things, & can't seem to get hold of Endo, so took an anti-histamine that was supposed to be non-drowsy. Guess what? It did the trick, but made me even more dozy than I usually am, ha ha. I'm hoping doc doesn't tell me to stop them (seem allergic to everything), as heart rate has gone down to a normal pace, and for a few days I've felt fine. Oh well, wait & see.

    Thinking of you all,

    Hi All

Hope everyone is feeling ok. Thanks for your history Bess, it would seem I'm starting what you're just getting to the end of. I hope your levels stay stable, I will definitely keep my fingers crossed for you.

Jackie, I'm sorry the carbimazole is causing an allergic reaction. I spent nearly three weeks on antihistamines as that's what I was originally diagnosed with. They really knocked me out so I know how you feel. If they work will you stay on the carbimazole?

I'm not too bad thanks. I still have tremors, fatigue etc but do feel slightly better in myself. I don't know if that's because I've got used to the idea of what's the matter with me! My eyes are still giving me problems but I had my CT scan yesterday so we're getting somewhere now. I see an orthoptist in a couple of weeks and then a consultant the week after, so hopefully I'll start getting some answers.

I'm treating myself to a hairdo tomorrow, well it's long overdue as I haven't been able to drive to my normal hairdressers so am going to one in the village where I live. Hopefully I'll feel a bit better for that.

Marigold, have you found out why your fingers are purple?

    Take care everyone.

    Hi gang!

Bess & Barry. My fingers are ok now thanks. All of my ring finger was dark purple, and then it was discoloured for a few days. It didn't feel cold. I frightened myself to death, thought I had lupus. They say if you have one autoimmune disease you can get another one. I always have to have something to worry about. lol. How are you doing with the Propranolol Bess? Barry, it'll be interesting to hear what your blood results are. I'm looking forward to getting mine done next month to see what's happening. I'm not sleeping too well, but apart from that I'm fine. Glad the chocolate helps. Take care.

Hi Kat. I'd mention the heavy periods to your GP. She should be able to give you something. It can also be a sign of anaemia. Worth checking out.

Jackie & Hare, you both sound a bit better. I like getting my hair done, it seems to be growing fast at the moment. I no sooner get it cut when it needs cutting again.

Sue, are you ok? I'm worried about you. Are you feeling any better hun? Let us know how you are. xxxx

    Thinking of everyone.

    love, Marigold

    Hi all,

Hare...how's the hair? I hope it's lifted your spirits and made you feel like the bee's knees. I'm happy you're getting looked at by orthopist & consultant. Tell us all the outcome. I'm hoping hives don't get too bad that i have to change medication, as probably the next meds will do the same, & am feeling ok some days.

Marigold....thank goodness your finger's come back to life. You give lovely advice & support (as do you all), & hope to do the same for you.

Baz. Yes, chocolate seems to cure anything. Long live chocolate! & good luck with the blood test.

Kat....Hare & I are looking forward to your history, so I hope you soon feel better & gain energy, cure? chocolate! I've started taking vit B supplements, and I think it's helping me to not feel so much like a lead wreck, but maybe it's psychosomatic (if I knew what that meant!).

Charlotte....how are you? You sounded down & poorly, so let us know.

Please advice...is it an orpopist I need to find first, about my eyes? My left eye has started to go a starry & I have to force my lid down, & got blurry vision at times through the day.

    Take care everyone,

    Hi All,

Looking forward to my holiday on Friday, but have been resigned to the sofa for the last few days as I have felt awful. I have an appointment at the doctors early tomorrow morning and she is going to rush through my blood test results.

Jackie and Hare my history is that last May I started to get one infection after the other, (chest, throat and ear etc.) and just generally felt unwell and by the end of June when I wasn’t getting any better my Dr decided to do some blood test by which time I had lost nearly 2 stone in weight. My blood test came back with an overactive thyroid level. My GP has been great as I have had a rough few years, having been knocked over by a cyclist in 2007 and I have now have 4 operations on my left knee and it is still not right and then 2 years ago I lost my sister to breast cancer and my elderly mother has had a fall and has gone downhill since, at first she thought that it was a way of me coping. My Endo has not been off my use. I will see him again when I get back from my holiday.

    I hope that this helps.

I hope everyone is OK and Barry keep eating the chocolate…

I will try and log on while I am away in the warm sun.

Lots of love and keep well.
