    Hello.

I have painful breasts too. It feels like I am going through puberty again.

It's not the same kind of pain you would get before a period. It feels like puberty boob pain. I even get stabbing pains in my nipples. My breasts even swell up. It all comes and goes.

My sister says going through perimenopause/menopause is like going through puberty again but in reverse. She had the sore painful swollen breasts with stabbing pains too.

It can be the hormone fluctuations.

See your Dr if you have concerns.

    You are not alone.

I hope you feel better soon.

I know for me when my estrogen is too high and especially through peri menopause my breasts would be so painful and so big I couldn't touch them. I think its quite a common problem.

Yes, they hurt to touch them or wash them in the shower! My underwire bra cuts into me. They swell so much I fill up the cups of the bra to almost overflowing. I was laying in bed this morning and my cat got up on me and she stepped on my boob. It hurt do bad!!!! I was yelling Ow, Ow, Ow!!!!! But it hurt so bad I couldn't get her off of me!

      Oh, the joy of perimenopause!

      LOL!

I've never had big boobs but during my period & now during this intense Perimenopause my breasts are bigger & fuller & firmer.

Oh, sure. Nice boobs now that I am 50! LOL!

As someone who has gone through this & worked in Ob/Gyn, there are a few things you all can do to help diminish the effects of sore breasts. Firstly, is to stop drinking caffeine of any kind, whether tea, coffee, chocolate or anything else, once the caffeine goes, the swelling will go down, Secondly, do not wear underwire bras. They tend to cause nerves and muscles under the breast to become twisted which causes a lot of pain. Thirdly, there is something called Arnica gel that you can buy otc, and helps relieve some of this pain. Fourthly, this can be a symptom of perimenopause, but as someone who has suffered from breast pain all my life, until I was told to stop consuming caffeine it could be a symptom of having too much caffeine in your body which elevates the estrogen in your body that will cause your breast to feel pain. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your advice. I had to cut out caffeine years ago because of Fibromyalgia and CRPS. I am having intense Perimenopause symptoms the last few months.

I've been in perimenopause for years but it is really ramping up. Having really bad symptoms. Getting ready to go into full on menopause?

I try to eat healthy, drink lots of water, gentle exercise, try to sleep well.

      Having acupuncture twice a week.

Considering BHRT. Do you know much about HRT or BHRT?

Any info is much appreciated. Thank you.

Ramp up the exercise. Take it up a notch or two. The more cardio you do the lesser the symptoms.

As for HRT, I went on a low dose bcp, because hrt wasn't agreeing with my body. If you try it and it works that's great but you should feel better like within 2-3 weeks, if you don't then you need to get it changed. BHRT again works for some ladies not all. Best thing to do if you're considering it is to discuss it with your doctor. My doctor was on top of my symptoms and somehow knew what direction to take with me in to lessen my symptoms. Since I'm medically a bit savvy I knew what I should or should not take as well. So between her knowledge & my research of medicine we were able to figure out what would do the less harm and yet stabilize my hormones. I tried 4 different bcps's before I settled on one that didn't cause my symptoms to fluctuate. I suggest you do the same if you can. You seem smart in your approach to this change. If you have any further questions feel free to pm me or write here.

I'm on mobile so it shows an envelope on the right hand corner, if you're on PC it should show it around my name. Hope you find it.
