Hi Chery..you need to get Bio Oil....or Rescue Oil is the cheaper version.

As soon as most of the scabby bits have gone ..or even before. massage the oil in as much as poss...I did it every time I went to the loo and used almost 2 bottles. Do it round in small circles ..you'll probably have some areas around the scar that feel hard and tender...It was probably around week 8 or 9 that mine was more or less OK. Now its still a bit tender if I turn over too roughly in bed and the skin still feels stretched if I sit awkwardly.....I had dressings on after the staples for a week too and then had a waterproof one on some little bits of the scar while I had my hydrotherapy physio sessions.  Anything else just ask....as you know I'm now almost normal!

Is it too early to use bio oil I bought some before op! whats your scar look like now? mine is long but very neat so hoping will fade in time as dont want to give up my bikini!!

Use the bio oil as soon as there are no open bits on your scar...it helps to soften any remaining scabby bits. Mine looks like a feint thin red line...sort of a dog leg ( a bit begger than normal because if the femur cracking I suspect).... would send you a pic but it would put you off your meal!!

Hi Chery, Acupuncture on around scar tissue is able to break down scar tissue and help circulation, then prevent future pain.

I had my surgery April 30th and today te visiting nurse just removed my final staples.

Friday a nurse removed every other one, and today a nurse removed the remaining.

I fel quite fortunate that the inision has never caused me any problems, no itching, redness or anything. i have had a nurse come every other day to change the dressing. They always put that red iodine stuff on it.

Today I have no staples, jsut a big bandaid and the nurse said in 2 days I should remove it and then I am done, no need to cover it.

Can you tell us what day you had your surgery? Looking to find out how long your staples were in.

My 36 stapes were in almost 2 weeks..like you no problems...I kept a small dressing on ..waterproof for when I was using the hydrotherapy pool.

I used Bio Oil several times a day and now..14 weeks from the op its a feint red line!!! Hope yours does as well!..

i had op 9th May. Didnt have dressing changed> I asked when I left hosp if I would have to go to get it changed but they said no just phone if became sore or blood appeared. so was 15 days. Funny how we all get told different. I have no dressing or anything now and been told after a shower to dry scar area with a hairdryer! How old are you Jodi-France?

Odd how the practices hange country by country isn't it?

I had my staples in almost a month. Just 4 days shy of a month.

Since you only had your surgery May 9th I wouldn't worry about it overly much, however I do feel empathy for you.

I don't have any scabs with the scar, probably that every other day cleansing by the nurses wiped them off. I confess that I first looked at it today, never before. There was one little scab on the very last staple, just a little chunk of dried blood, she said to not pull it, jsut leave it until it falls off naturally.
