Pain/discomfort under right rib cage.

I have been experiencing this for the last few months, I have been searching the web looking for answers.  I am a 45 year old female, in good health, I take no medications, thin, active, I eat healthy, so I am at a loss. I have this feeling like there is something under my right rib cage as if something is stuck underneath or enlarged. At first I thought I had strained a muscle b/c I had been working out in the yard the day before it started. It doesn't hurt, it just feels like there is something there that shouldn't be but when I touch the area there is no swelling or bulge. After about 3-4 weeks when it wasn't going away I went to see my doctor. They did blood work, urine labs and sent me for an ultrasound of gallbladder, all came back normal. I have no other symptoms like nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, etc. just this feeling like something is there. It seemed to go away on it's own and then came back and has come and gone since sometimes lasting a few days, sometimes a few weeks. When it is back wearing a bra is uncomfortable. Sometimes there is a warmth or burning sensation in the area. The only other symptoms I have had that I think are related are these: A few months before this started I experienced a fluttering sensation, almost like when I was pregnant and the baby moved, in the same location, a couple of times. Since this has started, on 3 or 4 different occasions, I have experienced a charlie horse like spasm in the same area, below the right rib, when bending over from a sitting position. Does anyone have any answers as to what this might be?  Does it sound like IBS? Peptic Ulcer? Hiatal Hernia?

    Hola Kit,

I have a ton of severe stomach issues. I am not a doctor but, I do know that the stomach es actually in the upper left section of the abdomen and the gall bladder es in the upper right section. Although a CT scan has been done and the results came back "ok", it does NOT necessarily mean that everything es perfectly fine with the gall bladder... Not folks that review CT Scans, MRI ' S etc. are skilled... Some doctors may determine that you have "sludge or small gall stones" and not consider it a big deal because medicine claims that the "MAJORITY" of patients have no pain at all... YOU could be in that rare category of folks that have pain.

I am no a doctor but, if it does not feel the way that it normally should, there es something going on. Sounds like something in that area may be swelling for whatever reason at times. ...but, the gall bladder can certainly cause those periodic sharp pains... I would definitely obtain a second and possibly a third opinion if necessary. Could be scar tissue... Regardless, do no take it lightly. IFAlso, blood work can be misinterpreted and labs can make mistakes. I certainly will keep you in prayer my friend. 😊

your livers in the same area. I would have pains in areas and also feel like something was punching me in rib cage. I was told it was my liver Hardening. since it was struggling. all my results and test came back all my organs were ok. my heart started struggling too. i have a gluten allergy and celiac. it was causing me not to absorb my nutrients. i was severely deficient in iron, d3, Bs ets. for this reason I wasn't creating blood. up until heart doctor who figured it out they kept dismissing and thinking I was losing blood. they weren't listening to me.

get checked for deficiencies and allergies. food and internals.

I was sent to multiple specialists to figure out what was going on with me. Tests showed that my organs were fine but I was swelling and effecting my heart to race/pound to hard. i find out later due to gluten issue i wasnt creating g enough blood/iron my ferritin levels were a 5. took heart doctor even he like everyone else just didn't listen.

took long time. but if my irons to low or high and gluten exposure I get that feeling. why I explained it to them it felt like if you were pregnant and baby could reach up that high I was getting kicked or punched in that inner rib area.

all the signs were there i just assumed the side effects were do to weather and allergies. we had artic weather negative 40s that year..the pressure i felt in ear area, extremely cold feet. I want hungry and only wanted ice water and cubed up iceberg Lettuce nothing else..no dressing. asthma flare ups.

i didn't usually use a lot of ice and I usually ate Romain or spring mixes.

I couldn't work out with out kidneys feeling like someone punched me and blabbing out. I went from 17%body fat 121lbs to 165.lbs

they didn't take me seriously that I wasn't eating they thought I was holding back info. till my best friend tells at the heart specialist. he made comment that I would look like those Ethiopians then and with a bit belly if that was the case she had enough.

finally he listen then what i was eating made sense. so he asked questions . I had all issues on his list but I thought they were do to natural weather issues. most Anemics lose weight. But I originally had troubles gaining weight because of my metabolism and I went reversed and just started swelling up because a hello was my organs were struggling But here I am now struggling to get the weight back off and now fighting with hormones

This time around doctors saying i was not going through the change and finally i didn't back down and told him if its not the change then somethings written. He did test... I've gone through pre and through menopause!! I am post menopause! I don't get how doctors keep screwing up Why aren't they listening to us.

asked them to check thyroid.. they only did T4. I griefs family member is a specialist in another state. told me to make sure they do t3 also. that t4 can be fine but thyroid can have issues showing up with t3. they didn't! and another new doctor is ordering ana bloodwork and colone test. wanted me to do celiac test. she didn't look over my file. that the doctors didn't because you have to eat gluten and they know it will kill me. I need to find a doctor who understands

I had problems on and off for a few years, discomfort on my right side, pain most of the time after fatty foods, i had every scan going and was told my gallbladder didnt have stobes in, i continued to have discomfort and i knew it was to do with my gallbladder so i asked for it to be removed where they found it was infected etc, this wouldnt show on any scan, it did solve the problem im glad to say.

what about blood work. they told me in blood work they can tell if certain organs were wiring properly.

did you have problems with weight before surgery and how is it after?

I am going threw testing again but know one even thought about my gallbladder. its been in my thoughts when I read post and what others go through.

Hi, just got back from the specialist. Had an endoscopy, nothing found except reflux as well and a mild inflammation in my stomach. Biopsy all clear. Pain still there. Ultrasound also clear. I am guessing I just have to live with it.

😦 sorry.. understaffed. tired of test and no answers or suggestions from doctors.

when I have gluten exposures upsetting my stomach i take 2 shots a day of real drinking aloe..pure. or mix in water or juice. I guy with sever stomach ulcers taught me this. it was the only thing that helped him. helped his acid reflex issue too.

it helped a friend of mine when doctors kept putting her on pills.

I also learned not everyone has high acide but low.. which would cause digestion issues. that was mine for years. I drink Leone in water or really grapefruit juice 30min before I eat.
