If you've only just started, give the pred a couple more days to start working. The pain and stiffness should start to ease. I don't know about the other symptoms but maybe someone else will be along soon with their experience. Do take it as easy as you can, given it's the season of jollity, and keep warm!

I don't think light sensitivity is common in PMR - but it is a symptoms in lupus and other connective tissue disorders.
Were you diagnosed by a GP or a rheumatologist?
