Pain from Hemerroid op.

Had my op last week so only a week out, well I was told it was going to be painful but I'm in so much pain today after going to the toilet. Constant stabbing pain, taken tramadol and nurofen but no relief,  Feeling quiet sick with it to.  Saw nurse yday said it was swollen and really bruised but this has been the worse day by far. I had 4 removed grade 3 and 4 and was told they were very large, also a thrombotic skin tag which was was hanging down about 12 mm.  Just want to no does this pain get better soon struggling to cope today. Any idea on how to cope with the pain to getting quiet depressed now.

Hi Shirley, I had morphine in the hospital. If tramodol isn't doing it then see your GP and get some oramorph. You shouldn't need to endure the pain. It will get better but with me it took longer than they said. I had tramodol and panodol which only took the edge off it. Hope it gets more comfortable soon. Been 9 weeks for me today.

I found the only comfortable place was in a warm bath by the way.

    Hi

Please don't be worried! I experienced the same pain as you. I had a polyp removed and fissures. It will start to get better. I was pain free after three weeks amd now I'm two and a half years down the line and haemorrhoid free. It's horrible in the beginning. Try lots of salt baths and put a hot water bottle between your legs as the heat seems to defer the pain slightly. Good luck!

Thanks I will try the hot water bottle, still in pain, hate taking tables but think they are working if I taken them regularly. How long did you take of work, hospital gave me 2 weeks sick note, I work on a busy supermarket check out, think I need a bit long than that as sitting down for a long stretch, also still leaking a bit.

I work as a teacher and had it at the beginning of holidays. I had the thd which I think is a quicker recovery time. I'm sure you're doctor would give you longer off work. I really emphathise with you. If you take movicol that will make your bowel movements soft and more comfortable. If you're like me you probably think the pain will never end.I promise Iit does and your life will be so much better!

What got me was how I was made to feel it was unusual and a fusspot  to be in pain so long after. If I had been told it was normal much earlier I think I would've dealt with it better but they only admitted to that 4 weeks after by saying it could take 3 months. I know it sounds odd but I felt much better hearing that than you will feel ok in two weeks and you're  not.

Two weeks is standard from hospital. Go to GP for more time off. I avoided going any where fire 4 weeks but was able to work from home. Personally I reckon 6 weeks.

Thanks for reply. I had Hemorrhoidectomy, had grade 4 hemorriod with a fissure and polyps to.  Very painful, not to bad today thought but haven't been to the loo.  Hopefully I have turned the Corning and on road to recovery

If you had the open hemorrhoidectomy, mwhich I had, it actually the most painful one. I'm told the other option considered is to be given drugs to stop bowel movements for 5 weeks. Yes 5 weeks in order for it to heal before having a BM. Obviously the diet would be special to avoid blowing up like a balloon. Astronaut food. Think I prefer the option I had. Hope you feel more comfortable soon.

By the way. Drink lots of water and eat lots of fibre  and get yourself a squatty potty. It made it more comfortable.

Coming up to 6 weeks now, well I thought I was nearly there but now I'm not, got a very painful small lump outside and very sore when I go bm, with lots of blood, it even hurts when I pass wind now.  Going to phone hospital today to see if I can get an earlier appointment than 6 Dec,  worried that still got a pile or something worse.
