Pain in opposite hip from replacement

I hope someone can give me advice, as I can't get an appointment (for obvious reasons). I had my right thr in January (after waiting for 5 years) and am doing really well. However, I know I also need my left hip replaced and was due to discuss it with my surgeon during my follow up appointment in June. I have been doing my exercises religiously every day and have suddenly started to experience that familiar severe sharp pain in the bad hip, which is now making it difficult to continue exercising. I am unable to speak to a physio and don't know what to do. I obviously don't want to jeopardize my new hip recovery, but at the same time, today I could barely walk with pain in my bad hip. Any suggestions ? Are there any exercises I can do that doesn't put strain on my bad hip, but still works my new hip ?

I think too much emphasis may be put on exercising...especially for months and months. I had thr 3 months ago...I was walking with no pain after 2 weeks...and I stopped exercising soon after.

Someone in posted replies here mentioned resistance bands. Great suggestion!

Resistance bands were one of the few things I was given by the hospital after my op. They are in different colors.

When I was in rehab (a month) after surgery I began getting around with a walker. After I didn't need it for mobility I began using it for balance in place. ...standing on one leg then the other. The most useful piece of equipment was the parallel bars, so after hours I used the walker in my room for just about everything I was doing with the bars, substituting marching in place for walking back and forth. I bought a walker and now I have the bars in miniature. I do all my stretching and adapted pretty much my whole gym routine. Talk about convenience!!!
