Pain with Fibro

Hello:  I'm not new to the forums, however, I am kind of new to the fibromyalgia forum...I'm Carole, and I have sciolious, spinal stenosis, and now, the doctor tells me I also have fibro....last night I had a terrible muscle pain in my neck and it seemed to hurt all over...I am used to spinal pain, but the neck pain and the tenderness in my whole body kept me awake almost all night...It hurt so bad just to turn over in bed.  Is it possible to have fibro so badly that it keeps you awake and makes you miserable...I kind of shrugged it off when the doctor told me I have it because I have just about everything else, but this really hurts...thank you for any advice you can give me...BTW, I have Lyrica, but I took them for a few days and I gained five pounds of fluids...now, I can only take one once in a while....thank you!!

    Hello Carole,

Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. My view is that sometimes doctors need to be more informed about this condition. Throwing truckloads of drugs at this does not seem to be the answer. My doctor has/will only prescribe amitriptylene - this has helped with sleep and a little bit with pain. P'raps you could try this. many of the drugs prescibed have awful side effects. I wish you luck

    Take care, Anne

Hi Carole, like you I had problems staying a sleep with fibro, I would wake up so stiff an so sore to turn over, I take amitriptilyn a few hours before bed and it helps as a muscle relaxant and I now sleep through, I also take gabapentin, and co codamol or if really bad tramadol, I think the gabapentin helped with the restless legs and itchy crawly skin that used to stop me from actually getting to sleep too. If I were you I would discuss possible options with you gp, as what works for one does not always work for another, but hopefully you have some ideas you can discuss with ur gp now.

Sometimes the side effects of these med's out way the good that they can do, so trial and error really. Hope you start to sleep better soon Hun, take care and let us know how you get on! Big hugs xx

Sleep. Used to be AWFUL. I use a melarinin oral spray & drink chamomile tea (bought a pound of chamomile flowers in bulk online for ten bucks, SO much stronger than tea bags) before bed. Knocks me the heck out!
