Palpatations + chest pain

Posted , 11 users are following.

5 weeks ago I started getting palpitations then on a Sunday morning I woke up at three o'clock with what I thought was a heart attack after a day in hospital and ecgs and blood tests galore they say I've pulled my muscles around my heart, I've since rested for four weeks now and I'm still getting chest pain ( very sharp in middle of chest) and palpitations in upper chest/ throat and feeling a little short of breath. I do have degenerate spinal disease could it be related or is it anything else hopefully someone has had similar things and found some sort of relief.

Look forward to hearing from you all.

Is your spinal disease locaated in one spot or the whole spine is

involved?  I ask because I have two herniated disc just between my

shoulder blades.   If I do something that tweaks them and the pain

starts it usually spreads around rib cage to the front and the

breast bone hurts also.  However I don't have any palpitations.

Could it be that the pain just makes you nervous (it would me

if I didn't know what was causing it) and that alone could cause

the palpitations......Just a thought.  Ask your doc for a mild

tranquilizer and see if that helps.....

I get very severe chest pain. Nothing significant found. So I now treat it as severe Indigestion. Take Gaviscon and breathe deeply until it settles!

I live on it! get a lot of reflux at night particularly.

Coughing up mucous? might be chest infection. Is is coloured, thick? If so see Doctor.

Only just occurred to me - have you got PMR or GCA? Or did you just arrive on this forum by accident to ask your question? If you do have PMR all this COULD be a symptom of GCA - just wondered.

I found out by accident that taking Aloe juice stops

acid reflux and indigestion in its tracks.  Plus it's

healing.  Kind of pricey but worth it to me....

Elieen, welcome back. Do you realize that when one becomes the stalwart of a relationship, there is an implicit obligation to continue providing whatever indispensible services are theretofore provided, or compensate those who have suffered the loss as a result of the cessation of those services? Have you plans to protect our dependency on you?cry

We survive without you, yet we look around these rooms with wide eyed fear.

I will be so bold as to speak for me and others: Thank You.

Hi Stu, the coughing after eating food.  My 33yr old son had this for a long time until he spoke to his gp.  She said it was his asthma and prescribed the preventative inhaler.  He has never had an asthma attack but does use inhalers.  Your message just caught my eye.  Hope you get sorted.

No problem at all.  Anything I can do to help.

Did you call 999? Did the paramedic do an ECG while you still had the symptoms? Did you have the symptoms while you were in A&E?

The other possibilty might be myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) which can lead to pairs of trigger spots on either side of the spine in the shoulder muscles, about rib level in the mid-back and in the low back at sacroiliac level. If you have them at ribcage level they can pinch nerves which then lead to referred pain radiating into the ribs and right round to the sternum.

But my symptoms like yours turned out to be atrial fibrillation - due to the autoimmune part of the PMR and now well controlled on medication. Nothing showed up until a severe reaction to a drug triggered it and it was after it was all done and dusted I realised the strange episodes I'd had previously had stopped.

If I had something like that now  I would make an appointment or two with my Bowen therapist. No nasty side effects, doesn't need a prescription, just the cheque book or a bit of cash. Has other beneficial side effects a bit like a massage so I don't begrudge it even if it doesn't have as great an effect as I'd like. Definitely worth a try I'd say.
