Palpatations + chest pain

5 weeks ago I started getting palpitations then on a Sunday morning I woke up at three o'clock with what I thought was a heart attack after a day in hospital and ecgs and blood tests galore they say I've pulled my muscles around my heart, I've since rested for four weeks now and I'm still getting chest pain ( very sharp in middle of chest) and palpitations in upper chest/ throat and feeling a little short of breath. I do have degenerate spinal disease could it be related or is it anything else hopefully someone has had similar things and found some sort of relief.
Look forward to hearing from you all.

involved? I ask because I have two herniated disc just between my
shoulder blades. If I do something that tweaks them and the pain
starts it usually spreads around rib cage to the front and the
breast bone hurts also. However I don't have any palpitations.
Could it be that the pain just makes you nervous (it would me
if I didn't know what was causing it) and that alone could cause
the palpitations......Just a thought. Ask your doc for a mild
tranquilizer and see if that helps.....

acid reflux and indigestion in its tracks. Plus it's
healing. Kind of pricey but worth it to me....

We survive without you, yet we look around these rooms with wide eyed fear.
I will be so bold as to speak for me and others: Thank You.

The other possibilty might be myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) which can lead to pairs of trigger spots on either side of the spine in the shoulder muscles, about rib level in the mid-back and in the low back at sacroiliac level. If you have them at ribcage level they can pinch nerves which then lead to referred pain radiating into the ribs and right round to the sternum.
But my symptoms like yours turned out to be atrial fibrillation - due to the autoimmune part of the PMR and now well controlled on medication. Nothing showed up until a severe reaction to a drug triggered it and it was after it was all done and dusted I realised the strange episodes I'd had previously had stopped.
