panic attack question

I have two questions:

Can panic attacks feel different each time ? I had 2 panic attacks with same symptoms ( shaking, sweating, not enough air and a sickness feeling ) but between these 2 i often get only tachycardia, cold hands and over-thinking. Are these 'mini panic attacks' or just classic anxiety ? Cheers

Hi Doc's are putting all of my symptoms down to panic attacks but I have been feeling weak and trembly, chest pains and all this started when I was investigating my headaches and following a eye test they referred me to casualty eye consultant as I failed my field vision test!

Going through lots of tests in the last 6 weeks, I have convinced myself I either have a brain tumour, I had symptoms of a mini stroke, a heart attack or MS!!

Doc is trying to convince me it's all anxiety related but I'm not so sure..

I just feel so weak and want to pass out! X

YES, they can feel very different.  Stress and anxiety can rear its head in almost any way you can think of.  Even in the same person.  I also have times where I feel nauseated (which for some reason I have a fear of throwing up and Im not sure why..) which is my go to, other times my chest feels hot, other times my limbs feel hot or tingly, other times I notice my heart palpitating, chills, dizziness Etc.....

Yes, it can definitely feel different each time. Sometimes I will get one set of symptoms and other times different ones or some of each. It just depends on the day. The severity can also change. I think I have a mix of panic and anxiety bc someitmes my symptoms are manageable and other times it so bad I need to take something to calm down. Sorry you're dealing with this! I know how horrible it is!

Panic attacks effect seventy percent of you body so that means tons of different symptoms can arise. Yes it can be different. What your fear and empower will be the symptoms that stay like a pattern. What you dont fear will dissipate. Theres a potent mind body connection going on. Then there are certain symptoms that will arise from the cause and effect of adrenaline. Ince you get used to that and dont fear it it will come, run acycle of ten minutes and go, tavhy is classic. Bloods rushed to your heart organ for survival cold limbs, numd or tingling because the body needs to protect the vital organs under danger so the blood is pulled from thise areas. Classic anxiety. Breathing is on you. Learn to belly breathe. Chest breathing leads to shallow breathes, breathe holding or hyoerventilation. Belly breathing curtails thise symptoms and is calming. You get deeper breathes and it calms the irratated vagus nerve involved in fight or flight. Knowledge is power in having ana anxiety diaorder. Learning the actual science behind it is very comforting in understanding it and lowering the fear level. You can have mini attacks too. Learn to catch these before they escalate. Thats the key to manageing all this anyway. Cbt, dbt are useful guides on catching it and calming it before they go full blown. For the ones that are random you have to let them wash over you attatching no emotions to them at all. Fear feeds all these. Sometimes its so damn hard not to have fear especially when a new symptom emerges but just know fear for all with anxiety disorders no longer functions on a useful level. Theres a mal function involved.so we all scare easily and illogically. Which sucks.

many thanks for the info. My doc prescribed 1 month prozac and im afraid to start it.

Using medications is really your own personal choice, it depends on your functioning level overall. By itself, aside from that it takes 5-6 weeks to fully work, in and of itself.. if it works yes you will feel better ...but you still need therapy to figure this all out and skills and tools to deal with the mal function. I do know a few people on that and they really do like it but they used xanax as needed the first few weeks because it messes around with anxiety a lot until your body adjusts to it. I dont use medicines and havent in a very long time except for the emergency xanax so i cant really give a valid opinion on prozac. I never used that so i really have no clue.

I know meds effect everyone differently but I tried Prozac for 8 weeks and it just tripled my anxiety! I had a terrible experience, I've been off it for 20 days and I still feel bad. Definitely wasnt the drug for me. Not trying to be a downer but just wanted you to be aware of what I experienced.

Same here vanilla! Prozac tripled my anxiety too ... They don't have a therapeutic affect at all x

Oh glad I'm not the only one! How long did i take you to feel any better after stopping the Prozac?

Good question, I've tried a bunch of ADs and nothing is helping. Just had a test done that's supposed to tell me which meds will work for me and which wont. I'm waiting for the results. Been dealing with this for over a year now!

do you have problems sleeping ? I sleep well but i feel bad in daytime.

No I sleep really well. I pretty much feel bad all day on and off. Sometimes I can deal with it and other times I have to take a Klonopin to calm down. Working out really helps alot - it burns off all the nervous energy I have.

Not long even though they do say it takes a while for them to get out of your system. I am now on Sertraline (150mg) They help with my depression but I'm really struggling with my anxiety at the moment as going through loads of tests x

Interesting, I've been off for 20 days and I still feel worse than before I started it. Once I get my tests results back I'm hoping to go on something that will actually help me. Thanks for your response! Good luck to you, I know how hard this is!
