    Floaters in the eyes

    Yes

Last year I kept seeing flies everywhere out of one eye

One day the left eye the next day the right

I realy believed there were flies everywhere

I was told this would eventually go away and it did.

Pains all over the body and itchy skin is all def normal side effects with Anxiety and Panic.

And like yourself its not that often that I cannot sleep , like you I need my beuaty sleep and can often sleep up to 10 hrs in one go.

Everything you're describing is a symptom of anxiety. Escitalopram takes 4-6 weeks to build up to a therapeutic level in your body. Hopefully you will start to feel better soon. As for the floaters, oh my gosh, are they ever due to anxiety. I had them dreadfully last year, but *touch wood* since I started on Buspirone, I haven't noticed them.x

    Hi,

You should see a councelling psychologist, they will be so much more helpful than any medication could ever be. I saw a psychologist for an anxiety disorder and you learn about how to control your own mind- this knowledge and control is essential in overcoming anxiety in the long run.

    good luck

Go to an optician and have your eyes checked to put your mind at rest about the floaters

Just have a quick read of the symptoms of hypothyroidism to rule it out (two of the symptoms are anxiety and depression).

Ruby Wax has written a good book called All in the Mind which you might find helpful.

P.s. floater are absolutely a symtom of anxiety, all your senses become stronger. So it is completely normal for your eyesight to become more acute, hense you pick up on floater in your vision more easily.

Thanks chris yes my body super sensitive at the moment and i staring into computer at work all day does not help xxx thanks for comments

Yea, the body becomes sensitive because of excess adrenaline. Anxiety is just fear, its natural in the wild if there is a real threat..... If you were being chased by a tiger your body would produce loads of adrenaline, but it would not stay in your body causing all these horrible symptoms because you would run it off.

I would strongly suggest exercising every day.....! Exercise will really help east the physical symptoms, using up this excess adrenaline! and when pyhsical symptoms subside, the mind will be more calm too.

This is especially important if you are in front of a computer all day!

yes chris but do you think it could be the meds making me worse i do feel better then i did but was with the doctor yesterday and shes saying up them to 15 mg am nervous

I'm not an expert on medication so don't feel qualified to tell you whether or not it is definely that causing the symptoms. What I can tell you is that the mind is very powerful, if you sense a potential symptoms of the meds its quite common for your fear over them to excentuate the feeling even further.

I personally would not up the meds! Anxiety and panic is almost always caused by problems in the way one thinks......what you think effects strongly what you feal. Changing your thoughts and behaviour would be a much safer and more long lasting solution to your disorder.

If you are in the position to do so, I would highly reccommend seeing a councelling psychologist who will most likely use Cognitive behavioural therapy to help you overcome your problem. They will see you once a week and give you homework tasks to help you overcome your anxiety. What you are lacking at the moment is the right knowledge on how to overcome this problem - a psychologist will help you so so much and help mould you into a much happier, healthier, stronger person. The health sector is not very clued up on anxiety problems and GP's often hand out medication when really the solution should be to see a psychologist- I know there is a stigma attached to this, but if i were you I would bite the bullet and make an appointment with one.

Sorry for the slight rant and not giving you a yes or no on whether the meds are causing symptoms. I really hope you find a good psychologist who will help you come off the meds and heal your anxiety without any of the nasty side effects.

no chris I am aware of this just waiting for an appointment with the nhs i am reading alot of books with how to cope with anxiety like not reacting to taughts encouraging my self to have panic attack etc....

Arrr brilliant, you are on the right track then!! smile

I'd suggest reading 'Mind over Mood'. Also, 'Feal the Fear and do it anyway' by susan jeffers. And in the longer run- 'Healing your aloneness' by Margaret  Paul. These three book helped change my life enourmously, its all about building up your knowledge of the mind!

One more piece of advice- look into Trancendental Meditation, it sounds a little wacky and spiritual, but there is a lot of science behind it now. Its one of the most effective ways to overcome anxiety. You'll need to learn from a trained teacher and it costs like 290 quid..... but is so so worth it. Type in Youtube celebrities and Trancendental meditation and you will see some famous people bigging it up for reasurance.

Good luck, youve got an awesome journey to recovery ahead of you. Lifes a challenge....! embrace it and enjoy it! smile

A few years ago I had incredibly bad anxiety, depression, depersonalisation, post traumatic stress disorder- to the point where I was sure I would have to kill myself (sorry to sound somber). The first month was really really hard, but luckily I found a great psychologist to work with. And for the last few years have worked hard to overcome it. I have made a full recovery. Life is pretty amazing now and I feel so lucky to have discovered psychotherapy. It really is the key to overcoming mental health problems. And I wouldnt change a thing, although what I went through was horrible, it has taught me so much and made me into a much stronger, happier person than I ever could have hoped to be without going through it - it was definetly all worth it. Now I'm looking to become a psychologist myself and I'm heading over to Sri Lanka in October to help people overcome problems over there.

When I was going through my problems, and on forums like this I always said to myself that when I am better I will come back and try to help people on them.

I remembered this yesterday so decided to reply to a few people.
