I’m 41 and having a partial knee replacement in 2 days. I’m nervous about the pin after surgery. Any helpful tips?

I had one 9 weeks ago, keep leg elevated and make sure you have a couple of good ice packs. Take your medicine as ordered don't wait and let the pain set in.Do your exercise physical therapy will help you with this. I hope it all goes well.I have been back to work for 2 weeks now doing well. You will need a walker or clutches for a week or two.

Pain is bad first few days then gets less and less . Be sure to ice all the time , elevate and take pain meds . It’s imporant to do exercises but don’t over do it .
I had partial two years ago. Still get some pain if I over do it but overall best decision I’ve made having it done .
All the best !

Two and a half years post-op on a TKR...on the Forum since before the op. After reading well over 4,000 posts, I've gotten the impression that there is very little difference in recovering from a full or partial replacement. So here's some pre-op advice that I share with future TKRers...

Also, post this on your fridge...

Totally agree. You MUST take your meds ON SCHEDULE!!! Each drug has a "half life" (one half of the drug leaves your system in "x" hours). Your dosing schedule is calculated to keep the maximum therapeutic amount of the medication in your blood stream at all times. Skip doses and you end up on a roller coaster of pain. If the meds aren't working for you, the docs have lots of options...there are plenty out there and you will definitely need them. Work with your doc to find the right drug at the right dose on the right schedule.
