PCOS, pain and discharge?

Hi, new to this forum.

I'm 24 and got diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome about 2.5 years ago (problems started before this). I started my periods when I was 10 years old and have always been VERY heavy and very painful, they make me very weak and quite poorly.

For the past 3 years I have not had a period 'on my own', I have to take Norethisterone every 3 months for 10 days in order to induce a bleed. Also I have pain in my left lower abdomen. I have had a colonoscopy to rule out problems with bowels. My doctor told me that I should not be experiencing pain with PCOS (??). Recently I have been noticing a very dark brown discharge, I have had this for about a week now. My doctor didn't tell me what this was, just mentioned that's it's all part and parcel of PCOS, I'm wondering what it is?

I should also mention that I experience severe leg/hip/lower back pain (constant pain, ache, numbness and pins and needles) on my left side too, have been for over 6 years now. I may be wrong but I feel as is all this is connected somehow, but my doctor said that this 'probably won't be connected'. I have been to physio and they said there is nothing they could do for my leg, I'm now currently waiting on an X-ray.

Other symptoms I have experienced is bleeding after intercourse, pain deep in stomach during intercourse, aches very similar to period pain but without the periods, nausea and dizziness (sometimes passing out).

I'd just like to find out if anybody else is having these symptoms and perhaps shine some light on this situation?

    Hey

Have you found a solution to your problem?

My problem is very similar but the pain in my left side is very severe. The answers the specialists give me does not help me in any way. Im still in pain.

    Please help if you can?

    Kind regards

    Hi Suzi1234

I also experience the severe leg/hip/lower back pain (constant pain, ache, numbness and pins and needles) on my left side too (yes i copied and pasted) but i also feel like my whole lower abdomin is being scrapped. I can't stand up straight so i stay laying down in a fetus position. Im not capable of doing anything except running to the bathroom. I get the feeling of diarrhea, but its like a mucus drip....excuss the blunt- ness....

I've seen doctor after doctor and finally found one who knows what they're doing. I've had a couple of cyst eruptions and its horrible. So its possible that u are experiencing that but I've also had the pain during my cycle (when im blessed with one, i dont take anything to bring it on, so its very irregular) and the pain is slightly different from a cyst. However, recently I've been able to reduce the stress in my life, so i get a cycle every month with no help, is usually about a week or two off but it never fails. I still have an issue getting pregnant. Ive miscarried a couple of times as well. And the pain is still excruciating. Not always, but I'm experiencing it now.....

Anyways, with a good diet and exercise you can reduce the problem. You also need to reduce whatever stress you have, if any....

On the plus side..... My sister suffers from the same thing. Shes experienced a miscarriage as well. She had a cyst eruption and shortly after she conceived my niece....she had 3 more beautiful girls after. However, she works out everyday, even if it's just for 10 to 15 min, she eats extremely healthy, no gmos or anything she cant pronounce. She even makes her own soap. I dont think you have to get that deep into it, but i do feel that any healthy change has an affect on the body and it can work like dominos....

    Good luck.....

Hi suzy, If your Doctor has told you that you shouldn't be experiencing pain with PCOS then they don't know much about it. I was diagnosed around 5 years ago. I suffer wityh irregular periods and they are heavy and bloody painful. I too am quite poorly with it. The leg and lower back pain is actually very common during a period so don't worry too much about that. I have aso suffered with a dark brown discharge inbetween periods. I have spoken to my doctor and they said it was a common side effect of the condition. The discharge is actually blood believe it or not. In regards to the numbness on the one side I cannot say I have personally experienced this so couldn't tell you if it was related. It's good that you are getting it looked at to rule out any other problems though.

Hi,when I was 20, I was diagnosed with HPV. ( Im21 now) I got genitals warts but I cauterized thrice and the warts were removed completely.

Its been a year and i dont see or feel any sign of genital warts anymore.

But my concernis no longer the warts..

I just notice that this past few months, I've been feeling weird things and just recently, I started to feel pain on the right side of my lower back. It hurts the most when I bend forward, Sneeze and cough. Its like, I need to stop myself from coughing cause it hurts so much.

Sometimes I feela slight menstrual cramp even if my period just ended. Im not gaining any weight though. I feel like Im full after having just 3 spoonfull of rice. I feel dizzy at times. Im always sleepy. I get tired easily and also having hard time to breath.

I didnt really pay attention to the "breathing"thing cause I have asthma, but the other signs are really disturbing.

Im afraid to go to the doctor and know whats going on with me. sad

    Hi Suzi

Somewhere in this forum I have also said that ive had pain with pcos, had a clean coloscopy but gastroenterologist said I have H.pylori in my tummy. This was treated but still pain in left side persisted. Got a new gynae and he did a laparoscopy on me 2 days ago. He discovered endometriosis in the areas I had pain and burned it away.

Let them explore this as a possibility too. It is possible to have both.

    Kind regards

    hi suzi

i have been suffering the same as you for many years and getting the same respons from the hospital always teeling me that pain is not assosiated with pcos but after doing so much research my self it is know that pain and pcos are linked and so many women are suffering and it is just been brushed under the carpet and us women are being sent away still in pain.

i personaly would like this to change and have started a potition in the hope i can get women and familys to sign and get the NHS and govement  to look in to this and start listening to their patients and how they are suffering insted of trying to send us to pain managment or to another department for unnecessary tests and realy a waste of are time and theres and also there resorces only for us to be sent back to the gynocoligist to start all over again.

i personaly have been sterilized advised by my gyny after beeing lucky enough to have had 3 children but the pregnacys where awful, this was advised in the hope it would help me with the pain and hopefully make it go away (that did NOT happen) and still left in  pain and all i am getting told now is that there is nothing thay can do for me anymore apart from send me to yet more pain managment and like you on my left side.

Hi! I myself have been experiencing the same exact thing and I've had pcos for well over 5 years, However this is the second time I've been seeing the discharge and was told that the cyst are bursting ands that this is normal with PCOS. I wish I knew what was really going on but my Doc's don't know either and due to you saying that you've endured pain along with other women including myself I'm convinced that PCOS does cause pain along side symptoms of being a diabetic and this is something doctors aren't really saying but statics are facts.. I'm praying for us and sending healing vibrations your way

Have you ever been checked for endometriosis? I'm 26 and was diagnosed with lean pcos . I haven't had a problem with endometriosis but my friend did and that was her problem the entire time . Now I seen you said something about pain when you have intercourse. That is a symptom of pcos . Most of our ovaries are swollen from all the cyst . Or our cervix is tender because of the same thing. Also. I bleed every now and then with Intercourse, but most of the time it's just sharp Bain and cramping . Lower back pain and hip/pelvis hurting . Is a symptom as well. My doctor wasn't sure on why but he did say that your pelvis is a huge factor with your uterus and cervix it expands with them and also goes back with them so if there is a problem with them, there is a problem with your pelvis. I'm from the United States . So our doctors could be very different but thought I would try and be helpful cause pcos and lean pcos are no joke !
