Pelvic floor exercises after surgery

Posted , 5 users are following.

Asked doc on his rounds this morn. He said need to give stitches some time to heal. 4-6 weeks to start but depending how comfortable for you. Gently at first. But stressed importance of them to prevent prolapse returning.

Hope this helps X

Interesting to know that your doctor recommends that for his prolapse patients.  My Doctor also says not to do anything like that straight after surgery.

Kegels  arent for  everyone, though, and some people (like me) should not do them at all. people's situations and bodies and their surgeries are different and people should get the ok from their own doctor.

I absolutely agree with you about not doing pelvic floor exercises straight after surgery although I know some physios and doctors do recommend it. I didn't mainly because I was concerned it would be too painful but for the sake of a few weeks it's not worth worrying about. You are right Kegels aren't for everyone and I think ladies shouldn't get too "hung up" about them.
