poor you Tracey, so sorry, I've not heard of this before, unless your bones are brittle.  Good luck with your surgery in 4 days time, hope you have sufficient painkillers.

Young then! I'm 61 and on the waiting list. Ask the surgeon why this happened and if you feel you can't, find someone. Really assertive to sit with you and ask on your behalf.

Hi Tracey, sorry that this has happened to you.

I had my second hip done on weds and they broke my femur, luckily surgeon was able to repair it during operation. Yes it does give me more pain than the first one!

They habe told me to use crutches for 6 weeks then it should be fine.

Hopefully if they can fix yours you should be about the same, they are very good at fixing bones these days.

Good luck with your operation. Sending you a hug.

    Hi Tracey

I am so sorry this has happened to you. I hope that they can sort you out. Make sure you write down any questions you want to ask before you meet your consultant. That will help with some of the bordom. Make sure when you talk to your consultant you make it very clear you want to know why this has happened. You do have a legal right to see your notes so you could even ask while you are there to see them so you can make sure they tell you the truth and not try to hide any mistakes on there part.

yes thanks fr the suggestion,  i have begun making a list of questions already but seems silly in retrospect as im sure they explained most of them before the op

this is tragic terrible and negligent. What does he mean? You fractured yourself while anesthetized.... HE fractured you. Please assert yourself and ask him how HE Managed to break your pelvis in two places. Realise you have to have him on side if he's operating on. you, but are you sure you want him doing it if he's accident prone. Perhaps you would get better resolution if you spoke to the PALS office. Tell them you are appointing a solicitor. To break the pelvis once is disastrous, but twice, must constitute negligence.

we will never know what goes on in theatre UNTIL THEY INSTALL CCTV. Surgeons can get away with......... your situation is unthinkable. How absolutely helpless you must feel. with all those complications growing exponentially. Get after him to and get sfriend/family to obtain copy of your notes

I am not saying the consultant is not "responsible" but, from a medical (retired) point of view, there are many small boned in the pelvis and it is possible Tracy has underlyning conditions that pre-dispose to fractures. Pubic ramus fractures are excrutiating. xx
