I'm also in bed exhausted.. weak shaky headachy , aching joints, I also have ra and Hashimoto, I'm 49 no uterus but have ovaries, so know I'm at that age with all these debilitating symptoms that come and go like groundhogs day, I just don't know where I'm at in my change because of hysterectomy, and don't know whats causing what just know that yesterday I pushed on thru my day, and today is a stay in my bed I'm to weak and feel to bad day!

I'm right there with you feeling bad as ever weak shaky jelly legs , for me I'm bad for several days in a row then have a few good days , then back to feeling bad the crushing fatigue exhaustion nausea bad headaches and aching joints are so awful.. lately I've been experiencing charlie horse cramps in my feet and calves top of legs sometimes they wake me up in the middle of night with crampy feelings in my heel.. or indigestion pain across back then belching, or the soaking night sweats.. or the peeing every 2 hours like I have the alarm set or something, or the vivid dreams.. when I am sleeping its like a movie playing all night in my head.. then I wake up and sit up, and start searching on my phone .. its a repeat every night .. when I do feel some days of relief and literally not like I'm dying then I am still up at night peeing every 2 hours that never stops.. oh and forgot to mention the awful dry eyes and mouth feels like I have a dry sock stuck in my mouth and eyes feel like a burning gritty sandpaper feeling.... how are you doing.. do you write your symptoms down and see them repeat to the day.. do you get relief at all a few days a month? I know when this started for me badly it seemed like my symptoms all stayed without relief, before then cycling themselves every month, I do remember those days of no relief..

Try some potassium, bananas or a teaspoon of mustard for the charlie horses. My husband gets them. These things have helped. xo

its pretty relentless at the moment, i wasnt too bad by yesterday afternoon but this morning im totally exhausted again aching bloated no appetite nauseaus! gosh we are both really suffering, i do keep a diary but there doesnt seem to be a pattern its all over the place also my bad days seem to suddenly outweigh the good not sure if my estrogen level is very low or over into overdrive?

yes my bad days are definitely more than my good days.. ive heard so many different things like the worse you get the closer you are to coming through to other side.. ive just been like this for so long that I just can't believe there is actually light at the end of tunnel..thinking this is how it is from here on out.. I think that the hormones are worse in the 4am to 8am hours . I remember when this first started I had to get up clean take a shiwer do dishes wash my floor anything to burn off the anxiety nervous feeling until it setteled down felt like. I drank 17 cups of coffee, just awful and I would get that wired jolted sappy feeling to my body and head right out of my sleep and the internal shakes.. if I got up and did something it relieved it after about an hour or so

not sure about the estrogen, I have a blood test waiting to be taken but can't get in for it cause of the covid19 but its waiting not sure if it will show anything.. I ordered one of those progesterone tests think its for ovulation and woman trying to get pregnant, but same concept it tells you if your progesterone is existent or not, and mine shows not negative.. just wanted to see if I had any in me. there is 7 tests in it for 39 bucks so not too bad you can take it thru out the month, you just pee on stick, also I order those at home menopause tests same thing just pee on stick 2 lines means you are going thru menopause, don't know why I ordered I guess just for peace of mind that it is my hormones all whacked out ..

im in the uk my doctor wont do hormone blood tests they say its pointless because hormones fluctuate on a hourly/daily basis so wouldnt help?! ive not looked into home tests have they worked for you, im still on peri so getting a cycle each month

Hi. I'm currently in a very similar situation to all of you in this discussion and have been for nearly 2 years on and off. i have had one ovary removed, type 1 diabetes, hashimotos and am really not sure what's going on.

just as you describe it i get a million different symptoms at different times of the month but the most debilitating is this feeling that kicks in within seconds of opening my eyes (about 4/5am ) and drains me of every ounce of energy. my legs and arms go weak. i shake, feel sick, flushed, diarrhoea, it's just awful and can last all day although most of the time its improved by the afternoon as long as I've controlled the anxiety that comes with it. i was plotting my symptoms and it's pretty much all over the place except it's 10 times worse straight after my period. i take vit D and B complex and magnesium and considering trying HRT. i was keen to know if Any of you guys have found any miracles and really hope you're not still suffering. xx

i definitely think so, i think some of us go through a horrendous major shift as hormones adjust, this time last year i could barely stand without exhaustion and heart rate spiking to 140, my thyroid meds were stopped for 3 weeks as they thought it was this, unfortunately i dont think it was and now has taking me to now to get levels back, i definitely feel better now but not right, recently had hot flushes daily since period and now on day 37 still waiting, flushes seem to have increased, have had pins n needles again in last few days and tired again, no pre menstrual symptons at all, hang in there mine started dec 2018 but had noticed reduced symptoms 2 years prior, but it hit me like ton of bricks, never been so ill in entire life.

I had such a bad time last night my fatigue and dizziness turned into a bad migraine that I just knew was coming because of the bad nausea and extra blurry vision... today much of the same still very headachy and exhausted just not the bad migraine attack anymore it'll just be a headache now for next couple days..we go thru so much with these hormones...

how did the rhyroid medicine make you feel when you first started them? and do you have hashimotos also or just hypothyroidism? I have Hashimoto and they want me to start medicine for it but I haven't i tried medicine for thyroid years ago when they said thyroid was low, and it made me feel worse and dizzy.. so stopped and never took again but fast forward to today numbers are much worse and testing positive for thyroid antibodies so they say hashimotos now.. and now with the peri menopause and all these crazy symptoms I'm so much worse.. I do cycle thru out the month but everything repeats its awful and no end in symptoms anywhere, and because of hysterectomy still with ovaries I have no idea where I'm at if I'd be skipping periods or done completely, so I just know the symptoms are bad and put the thyroid and rheumatoid arthritis into the equation its bad bad.. and did you ever follow a strict diet to help with your thyroid? I do and its great for the most part but think if I could get onto the meds I'd be much better..any thoughts 😄

Same like me, this past few months my perimenopause symptoms has worsened, i feel so unwell, can't do much apart from worrying about what is my next symptoms, ive had too many to list.

Im thinking of taking anti depressants for 7days as my doctor says us it will help with my symptoms. Hopefully.

i was diagnosed 2006 after i had my daughter was borderline before that but have family history, i was fine on meds and didn't really have any symptoms i recognised, i do have hashimotis, when i look back though now i did suffer with depression for several years in my 20's and suffered 2 miscarriage and an ectopic pregnancy before having my daughter, i now think thyroid was too blame, you really need to start thyroid meds if you have hashis as will only get worse, you need replacement for life, it doesn't repair itself, its autoimmune and the fact you also have RA another autoimmune, if we have one we are prone to the others, both my sisters have hashis and my mum, one sister only 43 has just been diagnosed with RA aswell , im not sure where you reside but there are different brands of thyroid meds, maybe the one you tried didn't suit, no special diet i have eaten whatever i want for years and no problems with thyroid.

antidepressant will be my last resort as i weaned off them several years back, my symptoms not as bad as last year but still come and go, i could barely function last year but just had to push through as have 3 kids, i went to emergency dept twice with tachycardia and legs and arms were like lead, hard to stand, all bloods both times showed nothing, saw cardiologist to rule out heart and an endo for thyroid who tested nearly everything. Still nothing came back , now on day 38 with no signs of period.

thank you for sharing.. I do know I need to get on this thyroid medication and be on it forever , I just can't get past the feeling bad and dosage adjustments . I'm sure one day I will bite the straw and take them.. I'm wondering if I can start very very low even lowest dosage cut in halves or quarters and start that way and increase it.. I'm so sensitive to medicine, I've always taken child's dosage for everything and only if I absolutely needed it.. ugh this is rough.. but thanks again for sharing

usually they start you on 25mcg then retest thyroid in 6 weeks time and so on, a 50mcg can be halved easily but they are quite small tablets so may be a challenge to cut further down

Sounds like me. I'm a year and 4 months in and not right but, slowly starting to feel better. Hit me too like a ton of bricks. Felt like I got hit by a truck. Never been so ill in my entire life also. Sending hugs!!!!

If you run the med route. Get the swab test for gene testing. I went through 3 meds before doing this and finding one that coincided with my genes that finally started to work. Take Care xo

thank you so they have a gene swab test to see what meds will be good for you, all for Hashimoto?? do you have Hashimoto also? if so what worked for you diet exercise just meds?

    • Posted

Hi, Gypsy, no the gene swab test is for antidepressants which I've had to start due to peri symptoms. Not for Hashimoto. I can't do the HRT route so, this was my option and it's taken a long time to ease my symptoms but, it's the only thing that helped. I hope you find something that makes you feel better. I'm the same as you and I'm very sensitive to meds. I may be resistant to them . It's hard but, hang in there. xo
