So im 45 started with itchy skin achy joints about 18 months ago, mentioned to the nurse during a routine smear she said i was probably starting peri? Went to see the doctor oct 2019 because my migraines were so bad i struggled to function, had an mri was fine had bloods all fine. Since january things have continued to get worse, aching joints, migraines, sore breasts/nipples total exhaustion that floors me for days (i physically struggle to get out of bed) ibs litrally running to the loo 3/4 times in a row, jelly legs, feeling of doom, health anxiety, panic attacts, cold hands, racing heart, the latest bloating & pain very low down maybe bladder area? I actually cant do up my jeans, had an internal exam & bloods for ovarian cancer which where fine. Periods are now 22 days apart sometimes light sometimes heavy? But every day for the last 8 months seems like a bad day i wish to wake feeling well but never do, if i do feel almost normal it wont last all day. please tell me im not alone i actually feel like i am dying can every day really be this bad

You are definitely not alone! I have been through and am going through the same things you are. Read the posts on this site and you will understand everything you are going through is normal during perimenopause and you are not going crazy 😃 This site has helped me tremendously 🤗

sounds like me, im 45 next week and dec 2018 saw doct for fatigue, turns out i had low b12 so endured 6 injections of b12, was not the same after that, i continued to go down hill with head pressure, heavy legs and arms, muscle twitching, rapid heart rate, my period went weird where i had one 2 weeks after one, then cycles got shorter, then a 41 day cycle earlier this year, im still not back to the way i was, have regular increased heart rate and more recently increasing hot flushes, i have all the tests you can think of and nothing coming back, i have hashimotis which been on meds since 2006, i feel its perimenopause but doct keeps saying im too young, yet my mum and nanna were both in 40,s when theres started, i honestly could not stand for too long at 1 point as was exhausted, never in my life experienced the fatigue like i had, i just push through each day atm hoping ill wake like you say and feel normal again.

its just horrendous & why doesnt anyone talk about it, ive never felt so ill in my life  if you search this site or google 'peri menopause i feel like im dying' theres lots of women going through the same which is very comforting. I really hope one day we can both wake feeling better, i started taking soy isoflavones two weeks ago not helping yet but can take weeks to kick in so will keep taking, sending a big hug serena x Also 45 is not too early for peri menopause some women get symptons in their late 30's

i am so sorry you are going through all this, it is just so horrendous. i cannot believe that so many ladies feel exactly the same as i do. i have genuinely thought i was dying on a number of occasions, thanks to horrific heart palpitations that can go on for 20 minutes at a time, hot flushes which dont make me sweat but just make me incredibly hot, these have lasted hours sometimes too, then incredibly cold after it all, i cannot control my temperature, i am so fatigued i spend days in bed, i have no motivation for anything either, i just feel lousy, bad anxiety. i had blood tests but doctor said im not menopausal because of my results and the fact that i still have regular periods. how do people get hrt for perimenopause because i think currently thats the only thing that would help me, reading everything on here. please somebody tell me this gets better!

kerry isnt it just awful, my doctor couldnt test me for peri menopause because she said your hormone levels fluctuate daily/hourly & you wouldnt get an accurate reading anyway, but if you havent had a period for more than 12 months they can confirm menopause by a blood test? For me its the daily total exhaustion that really gets me down & health anxiety thinking something really bad is going on. I get comfort knowing other woman are going through it & also my bloods are all fine, sending hugs x

i think if we just knew for definite that it was the perimenopause, then the health anxiety would not be as bad because you could just be right its the menopause, im not dying, its nothing else sinister. i know we should be relieved that nothing shows up on other blood tests but it makes me then think im crazy and that all the symptoms are in my head and im going mad! please somebody come up with a test for it or at least a doctor who is decisive and makes a decision and then does something about it. im currently in limbo and havent a clue what is wrong for definite.

i know its so frustrating you can get tested for just about anything but peri! My doctor said 'im 99% sure its peri' but when you get health anxiety even that doesnt help, Kerry google 'peri menopause i think im dying' its amazing what so many woman are going through just like us, hope it gives you some comfort as it did me x

do you have any tips about what i can do about it? would the pill help? i cant carry on like this, im not living, im existing!

Keep a diary of all your symptoms, it will help track them with your cycle & you can also show your doctor so they understand what youre going though. Im trying to eat more fruit/veg, stay active try to walk for at least 20 mins a day when you have the energy. But if you need to rest in bed all day do that dont be too hard on yourself. I'm taking suppliments called menopace & soya isoflavones which to be honest dont know if are doing anything? I also take a pro biotic in tablet form which has helped with bloating & ibs a little. I also listen to hypnosis/relaxing videos on youtube some are only 10/15 mins long but to be honest anything is worth ago at the moment. My doctor suggested CBT look that up online might help with the anxiety, i havent personally tried it yet x

I found this site by googling "perimenopause I feel like I am dying." All the posts have been lifesavers to me because I have felt so alone during this time. The women I know haven't experienced anything like what i have been going through so it is comforting to know you are not alone! I am 47, I started having subtle symptoms at 39 but I only have 1 ovary left so that probably started my peri early. I have to say the last 2 years have been hell, I have days when I wonder how long I can manage this. Some days are ridiculously bad and some days are a tiny bit better and all the symptoms run in cycles. 12 months of stomach cramps, ovary pain, diarrhea then 10 months of urinary urgency/frequency all while having night sweats, fatigue, achy joints, headaches, heart palpitations, nausea like I am having morning sickness, the list goes on and on. Know that you aren't alone and the women on this site have been there, done that and through sharing our stories, we help each other.

Absolutely my life at the moment horrendous days & slightly better days, no one i know personally is going through this or gone through this & that makes the health anxiety go through the roof! But you are right reading that others are going through it on here & googling gives a lot of comfort right now. Ive said to my doctor its a feeling like all day morning sickness/hangover/flu all rolled into one totally exhausting x

omg ive just started with the nausea in the last month and yes just as you describe like morning sickness feeling, i have also noticed in last few years decreasing symptons of ovulation or premenstrual symptoms im now awaiting period and on day 32, no sore boobs atm nothing, just wish they would stop altogether which would confirm for me that im not slowly dying of some un diagnosable disease

      serena11274,

I hear you on the cholesterol! I can't believe that on top of everything else, the cholesterol goes up. My cardiologist wants me to start statins and so far I have resisted for the last year because I just can't deal with whatever side effects come with those meds. When I told my him that if it makes any of my peri symptoms worse, I just can't do it right now. He is 86 years old and just kind of looked at me like I was losing my mind. I know it seems foolish to not take the med but when I saw that statins can cause constipation and GI issues along with muscle aches, I was like, I already have them. Good grief.

yes my doct just keeping eye on mine for now, no meds yet but im reluctant to take anything atm other than my thyroid meds as i seem to be very sensative to anything now, dont need to add to mix lol

I hear you on the cholesterol, mine is up also. Because we need one more thing to worry about. ugh.
