perimenopause hell

Hi I am new to this forum...I found it online while googling 'skin burning hormones'. I have had two weeks of sheer hell and was in tears reading the posts from other women who are experiencing the same skin issues, overwhelming dread, health anxiety, heart palpatations, insomnia and more. I am 45 and only now realizing that the insane health episodes (with multiple trips to emerg!) that I have had the past two years is possibly triggered by hormones. Why don't doctors know about these issues?? It's terrifying and there are never answers given... How can so many women have the same symptoms but we are all treated like we are crazy? I can't believe there are so many women out there with stories similar to mine. I am so glad I found this site...I would love to have discussions and advice.

I cannot believe I have found this forum! I am about to lose it, Im depressed as hell and feel like I cant go on like this much longer! My story is very similar!!! I have spent from Oct 2017 to now seeing every speicalist you could imagine GP, Cardiologist, ENT, 2 allergists, GYN, Pulmonologist, Ortho, CAT scan, many labs, chest Xrays....I could go on! I keep searching for what is wrong with me!! I have aches, pains, racing heart, night sweats, already have panic that has just become uncontrollable with my standard meds, every joint hurts, fluid retention, brain fog, uncontrolled asthma, crying almost every day, debilitating depression, very dry skin, worsening of acid reflux, nausea. And like most of you...I have had every test under the sun and they all come back normal! I never thought hearing normal would sound so awful! I cannot do HRT since there is family history of breast cancer. I honestly dont know what is left for me to try before I completely lose my mind. I cannot believe my husband hasn't left cause God knows I want to leave me! lol

Hi Beth,
Yes, this is my story as well. Things have calmed down some for me, but the symptoms still seem to cycle around. Between August 2016 and August 2017 my life turned upside down and like you, I visited every specialist I could. The only thing that finally showed up was reactivated EBV, and I figured that out on my own, so you might want to check that out for yourself. Drop in hormones can lower your immune system which leaves viruses able to make comebacks. I think that's why some of us get so sick.
I know what you mean about your husband, mine is a saint for putting up with so much. When I mention it, he asks me if I would do the same for him, and of course I would.
I tried BHRT for a few months, but it just made the anxiety worse because I was so worried about it causing side effects like blood clots, so I went off, and trying to get through on my own naturally. Wish I could just be like my friends and not worry about anything. They are all either hormones or antidepressants and nobody seems to bat an eye about it.
Hope you feel better soon!
XO,
Sue

I recommend to anyone going through perimenopause (or any under-treated medical issue, really) to try seeing a naturopath for a while. I've seen a man and a woman ND, and both have been treating my symptoms successfully. Obviously the hormonal chaos of peri requires many adjustments over time, but just having a medical professional who doesn't just treat symptoms is so much better than someone who just stares at you and tells you it's all in your head.
Good luck everyone. This is tough, and it's great that we're all out here talking about it.

I am so glad I found this forum. I have premature menopause diagnosed at age 34, now 41. last year my periods stopped. I have had and still have a hell of a menopause. I always blamed my stressfull life but I knew for sure hormones or hormone therapy is the blame. It has ruined my life. Every year I have had new symptoms and I hoped things would settle down when my periods had stopped. I need hormones because of my age. I have tried all sorts but symptoms come and go and some are there for 24 hours. hrt doesn't help my symptoms and dr. have no idea what I am talking about. My latest symptoms are more severe tinnitus, migraines, visual disturbances, light/sound sensitive, blurred vision, head pressure, panick attacks, derealisation, emotional, no memory?? mood problems....... I feel afwfull. I have no children because of this, I had to quit my study and live with my parents age 41. I cannot study or work, have no degree due to all the menopausal symptoms and chronic migraines the last 7 years. I want my life back but have no idea how? dr. won' t listen. When does this and how bad is this for your body?? I am 41 and need hormones, but why do they not help with all the other symptoms? I keep telling my dr. I don't feel good. Are there women here who also have premature menopause and what helps??
