Perimenopause/Menopause and shortness of breath/chest tightness/ Belching

Anyone have the symptoms of shortness of breath with chest tightness, (air hunger) with lots of belching after eating? If so please describe... And does it get better? Mine started like 3 weeks ago and it's awful feels like i can't get a deep enough breath.

I'm also experiencing food allergies/sensitivities also to soaps and flowers and different smells, all make me choke/ cough and feels like chest tightness. Never ever have I had asthma in my life but feels like it now! My anxiety/ panic attacks are bad, antibodies are high for rheumatoid arthritis, and hashimotos, just don't know how to deal with all these new symptoms that keep getting thrown at me other than to sit and cry, cry cry! Anyone else having similar issues??? Are these symptoms all consistent with the menopause change??

Hi All- I started skipping cycles last year during the pandemic...really light periods, short cycle then super long. Then I started getting a constricted throat feeling and lump in the throat too. And neck pain. I also had post nasal drip and acid reflux type symptoms. Pepcid seemed to make it worse so i stopped. I started getting bad anxiety & depression too.

I started on an SSRI but then started grinding my teeth at night so had to get off that. Now Im having sleep disturbances & can't sleep past 3am. I still clench my teeth & get lots of neck/ head/jaw pain. Im having bad panic attacks & depression...but oddly not much hot flashes. My own gynecologist said she doesn't test hormones....I was like, WHAT?! That maskes no sense.

Im finally now getting treatment with a naturopath... she tested my hormones & Im almost in menopausal range at age 45. I started bioidentical hormone therapy last week & really hoping it helps soon. I also started on trazadone at night for sleep & mood. It's been such a hard year especially dealing with this during this isolating pandemic. Im glad i found this website... anybody still on here and can offer words of support or hope? What is everyone doing to feel better? Sending hugs out to anyone going through this stuff.

Hello All. new to the forum but just wanted to say a massive thank you for the info and support on here. Without having platforms such as this I would have gone completely crazy in recent months. The difficulty finding accessible support is exhausting without dealing with all the symptoms as well! I cry when I read your posts, thankful that I'm not alone and get far more info here than I do from the doctors. You are all fabulous. thank you x

I have lots of belching of late, constant throat clearing, fullness feeling in sternum, almost feel like I have a constant chest infection almost like asthmatic and can't get enough air in, still experiencing rapid heart rate at least once a day aswell.

i have shortness of breath(SOB) since last year, I recently admitted due to numbness of my body, SOB, chest burning sensation, back pain & shoulder pain. CT, heart & brain tests was done nothing found, one of senior doctor said might due to menopause & I went see Gynae doctor & started

Hormone Replacement Therapy which prescribed by my doctor, blood test was done it indicates I m in transition menopause. just stay Positive. if the Hormone Replacement Therapy is works I will definitely update here .

    Hi all!

So glad to have read all of your responses.

I just turned 31 today and I have everything your guys have. My GYNO thinks im in premono 😦 the shortness of breath gets me at certains times of the month, I have found that laying on a heating pad on my stomach helps so much! I don't know why. Just remember to stay calm and that your hormones are changing everything.

I couldn't breathe all of a sudden, tight chest, light headed, extremely cold hands, thought I was having a heart attack. went to urgent care and they took my vitals. everything normal but i still had hard time getting air into my lungs...then all of a sudden I felt normal again. wth was that?! I never wanna go through with that again

i have just started experiencing a feeling like i cant get my breath . have hard fast heart beats , nausea and a spinning sensation . i have been up and down a and e and the doctors and am made to feel like im being a nuisance .

also have pain in my stomach back ribs , all the time and jelly legs now and again . i get a sore throat on and off now too . i feel really down now. i tried HRT last year but im sure it gave me ear congestion . hence multiple trips to ENT. but periods are now erractic and irregular so am thinking i might try the utrogestran part only . been given amitrptyline also, but i feel like im allergic to everything . going to try cetirizine initially .

people think im making it up im sure ☹☹

Yeah, well people who think you are making it up can get lost lol. I'd like to see how they would cope if they felt half as bad as we do

Wow. I have just found this page. it is so reassuring to hear similar stories. Why don't the doctors seem to know any of this? Had the air hunger and feeling like can't reach top of my breath, and burping for years now. Diet definitely helps - cutting down on fat and alcohol - but then this week waking up with racing heart is worrying. Will get it checked out but as I'm fit and healthy I suspect it will come down to Menopause. Period just started (again!) - very erratic. On HRT patches but 6 months in and they haven't regulated my periods. Having a coil fitted next week so hoping that will help. Stay strong girls and thanks for this forum.
