Perimenopause or Anxiety or ???

Hi everyone,

I recently joined this, my first ever forum, in the hope of gaining knowledge and sharing experiences on the strange symptoms I have been experiencing the last few weeks.

My first post focused on Anxiety and the possibility of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It has recently been brought to my attention, there is a possibility my symptoms could be hormone related. Something I never actually considered.

Brief list of symptoms...

Fatigue (groggy and heavy type tiredness)

Brain Fog

Feeling detached and 'spaced out'

Weak and Shaky

Jelly Legs

Weak Fingers and Toes

Sensitive to light and sound

Sometimes feels like I have flu or a bad virus (even though I know I don't)

Light Headed

Light Dizziness

Easily tired out

Occasional Palpitations

Frequent urination (occasionally)

Anxious (more so than usual)

Brief History...

I have had anxiety issues, on and off, for many years and also hormone induced migraines. This year the migraines are definitely worse and so too is the anxiety. I had an 8 day brutal migraine early/mid September, followed by 8 days of severe brain fog/dull fuzzy head. I haven't been the same since. I'm also wondering if my symptoms are migraine related? I've had 2 full blood tests done and 2 urine samples taken. All came back normal/clear and healthy. I've also been to see an ENT consultant who ruled out an inner ear virus. He also checked my throat and balance. I had a full eye examination last week and my eyes are in great shape. I have an MRI booked next week and also an appointment to get an ECG recorder fitted for 48 hours.

My symptoms are so broad and general, it could be a number of things... I have even considered CFS. Now I'm thinking it could be hormone related? I feel more anxious not knowing what this is!

Is anybody experiencing anything similar?

Any replies/advice would be greatly appreciated x

I'm just 41yrs young and been on HRT now for over 3 yrs. My doctors are hit and miss telling me I'm in the Menopause, I have no oestrogen hence the HRT. But before I was put on HRT I had all the symptoms of menopause no periods the roller coaster of highs and lows. Night sweats which I still get. Crying at the slightest thing. Short fuse. Like most of you on here I take my hat off to my poor husband and kids aged 10 and 8 now for putting up with me especially before HRT.

The last few months I have had the strangest of sensations in my head fuzzy dizzy. This was happening now and again but it's more often than not know. You feel silly trying to explain to the doctor your symptoms. This week has been bad one, no energy at all. I miss the old me happy go lucky. I feel like I'm old before my time and just want my old self back 😥😥😥😥😥

hello Dachshund mummy, i was just reading your post and know exactly how you feel with the fuzzy, dizzy head. I'm not on HRT or anything else. I have the sort of feeling as if i've been on an escalator and still going even if i've got off and my eyes feel as if there being twisted. do you know what i mean or is it just me? My doctor has no idea when i've previously explained this and just dismisses me. I too just want my life back, nothing special just me. I do hope your feeling better today. Sending you a comforting hug x

    Hi,

Can anyone help? I think i started menopausal symptoms a year and a half ago erratic periods, feeling hot, reflux started, never had a particularly good memory but some days now are a complete fog.I saw a specialist about hrt and started to take but it gave me a real headache so havent continued as yet, its called evorel sequi, has anyone taken it and is it any good? Would love to feel normal again!

Headaches are normal when starting hrt and usually it will take a few weeks to build up in your system. Stopping and starting will give you more symptoms so if you're worried see your gp but if you can, try to persevere with the evorel.

Does anyone have experience of the evorel sequi hrt being good?

Dachshund mummy it could be that your hrt needs adjusting upwards as you are producing less estrogen. Could you try an increase? It definitely seems like you are having menopausal symptoms.

Heather I haven't used evorel sequi but lots of people on menopause matters website use it. Do a search on that website and you will find others. I am on estradot and ultrogestan and they gave me headaches when I initially started but they have gone now.

Hi. I can relate to so much of this. I've had awful headaches and odd dizzy spells for about 8 yrs now. Almost three yrs ago, I got vertigo and today I am still struggling with dizziness, head pain, neck pain, anxiety, and lack of confidence. Have been to ENT, neurology, had MRI but still no diagnosis. Physio has told me that my problems could well be hormone related and neuro said that this could be having an impact but that has been the end of the road. I am now seeing another GP who says he thinks this could be a number of problems and I have broached the subject of meno symptoms with him and I am hopeful he will listen. For now he is trying to solve the vertigo with exercises and says we need to look at each problem one at a time. I am reluctant to go out on my own as the dizziness has made me low in confidence. I am so tired at times and have also had, tinnitus, night sweats, yes out of focus, jaw pain, tight muscles, back pain... But the head pain and dizziness is the worst. I have been trying a magnesium supplement which may be of help to you ladies. It is a relaxation mineral and certainly helps you sleep. I am so relieved to have found this site as I welcome any new info. With regard to diet, I find that when I drink raw fruit and veg juices , which I do for an odd three days here and there, I always feel so much better, so the nutrition thing, I feel, is important. Hugs to you all. Keep strong.xx
