PIP Advice Gathered in this Thread

There are lots of discussions about PIP and some contain advice. I thought we should have one place in which we can learn from each other so please offer your experience and tips of what may help.

I've found that the Work and Benefits website is very helpful! Check it out if you haven't already.

Fair enough Marshall, but I'm very glad I did because filling in the forms isn't as clear cut as it appears and people are losing their claims because they're not completing them comprehensively enough.

It's going to save me a lot of money in the long run.

    Hi Marshall,

It is all well and good having the information by researching on the net for free but: if you are not sure or capable of presenting the information correctly and within a set frame as is likely to be with the way that the descriptors are presented then surely to have the knowledge and expertise of someone who has been successful must be worth a small investment?

Something I've heard from two different people today, one of them my therapist who helped me to win my DLA appeal some years earlier and knows what she's talking about.

In the PIP form we have to tick yes or no to the questions but that doesn't tell the assessor anything about why we ticked that way. So use A4 sheets of paper to explain in detail how you're affected etc, and note by the question to refer to the explanations.

Make it very clear and understandable because they have to go through loads of forms every day so make it easy for them and you're more likely to get a positive result.
