pip assesment

i had the pip assesment last wednesday am currently waiting for the result.
i dont expect to get anything but will wait and see.
i have been on pip since last yr and it was for 2 years, I got standard care and standard mobility, my esa assesor asked what pip i got and i told him, he said he thought i should be on higher mobility as i can only walk 3 steps and have to rest for a while before walking again.
i waited for my esa report and sure enough the assesor had written on the report I believe this patient should have higher pip than originally given.
So i sent it of to pip thinking well maybe this will change my claim but if not I will just remain on the award i have.
How wrong was i the nurse who assesed me stated that his report will make no difference and that because i have reported a change of circumstances, my claim starts all over again and i might get nothing at all.
so my advice would be to others if your condition changes, wait untill your sent for to be reassesed because you may loose your original claim altogether.
I can only sit and wait to see if mine has been stopped or changed.

hi dawn.found your case equally baffling.if I've got it right what is your change of circumstances?does it mean that pip assessors and esa assessors are two different departments within a department and one has no say over the other?if so what was the point of the esa assessors writing what he did?who really has authority.who is accountable.all these folk employed to "catch"one person.with much consideration I've now decided it's me.im totally bonkers.good luck dawn.hope you get what you deserve, take care Ivan.

I have sent my esa report off to pip cus esa feel my disability is worth the higher rate and not just standard rate. But what i did not know untill i had reported a change in my condition was that once you report a change in circumstances. Your original claim stops and you are reapplying all over again.
This means my original claim for pip is no longer running apparently although the pip assesor stated i would still get paid my pip until they had made a desicion on my new claim.

Ivan ESA and PIP are 2 different benefits with different qualifying criteria. ESA assesses your ability to work. PIP is paid to help with the extra cost of disability.
Although both departments belong to the DWP they are looking at different criteria. PIP has 10 descriptors for daily living and 2 for mobility. It is a point scoring exercise which works on the balance of probabilities. That means it takes a lot more (generally) than a simple self-assessment (as per DLA) to qualify for the benefit.
Generally you will need very good medical evidence, a care plan and a carer statement to have any chance.
ESA is usually the easier of the 2. The descriptors are far more generous but it is still a hard benefit to claim.
Dawn was always going to have another assessment if she took the assessor's advice and reported a change of circumstances. That said she has gold plated evidence as the assessor has made a finding she fits the higher mobility criteria by being unable to walk more than 3 steps (the maximum is 20m)
So whilst Dawn is guaranteed nothing she has got a significant swing in the balance of probabilities in her favor. Hopefully the PIP assessor will concur and she will qualify for the higher rate.

I'm sitting and waiting too. Do you think that what we send out comes back to us? I'm sending out positive vibes for my result and not worrying too much.
Sounds airy fairy I know but this approach has helped me so many times.

Hi dawn82680. Wondering why the nurse was so confident that, the ESA report will be of no use up against PIP assessment report!!!! After all, EVERY LITTLE HELPS. Then make a statement saying "you may get nothing at all". Ta.

How the hell does she know? Loads of people are winning. Why aren't we talking about them and looking on the bright side?
I'm waiting for my result and I'm choosing to wait optimistically. I'm sick of people trying to frighten me! The way I see it is that if you're truely disabled you take it all the way and how the hell can they disprove it if it's true?

I have just experienced this ridiculous and illogical process.i told PIPS that I had had shoulder surgery in October I was already on PIPS and had been awarded for two years enhanced rate with16 points. It was.only when I reported that I was.in a worse condition that I was reassessed and lost my PIPS as I only got 7points second time around. I fought this and went to Tribunal and after 6months of horrific stress and absolutely no money and two sons and my being a single mother unable to.work and put into.the support group by ESA. They both come under the DWP. So I was reinstated and back paid for 6 months. I proved that the assessor had contradicted and lied. So I back to my original award but went through a nightmare to get back to where I was.innthe beginning!!!!!!!??!?!??!?!???#/#;-
