As bad as you feel you must attend, seems that you get 2 appointments and if u don't use them your back to square one, am I correct in this? Reason I say this is because I asked for home visit when they first gave me the office one, they did change it but said I couldn't cancel or it would void my applications.

And then he asked if I would show him the upstairs bathroom!! So told him that if he was desperate there is a toilet in the cloakroom by the front door, use that!

There wasn't a lot I could do, I was sat down at the table answering questions. It was when he asked if I would show him the bathroom that clinched it for me. I lost it with him and told him no and that if he was that desperate he could use the toilet in the cloakroom by the front door.

Hello Everyone.
?I am new to this site.
?I am 26 years old and i am a dwarf, i use to get DLA as a child up to 16 years old age and it was stopped.. I assumed this was because they didnt think i needed it anymore and only found out a few weeks ago it is because you then change onto PIP.
Today i applied for PIP on the phone to which i was told i had to complete forms when i recieve.
?I have suffered all my life with walking and everything really and constant back pain as you all can imagine why.
?Would i be accepted for PIP? as i am nervous i will not be.
?I do not drive and looking to drive but that has its difficutilies too as i am told by a learner instructor who can cater for me that i need to be claiming mobililty allowance to even start..
?Please advice me.
Thank you
Natalie

Hi Natalie, I think if your dwarfism is causing you to suffer any pain or discomfort and not have a goof quality of life then get that claim in, as you were awarded DLA until you were 16 then it follows that you should be excepted for pip, I can see where your driving instructors coming from, your car if you brought one would have to have major adaptations so would cost quite a lot so you need pip enhanced mobility to get a car that's adapted for you to take lessons in or go with a company that's got cars ready adapted for smaller people so you have licence for when u get car.
Hope that makes sense.
Also get someone to help with forms

Pain, discomfort & a poor quality of life will not be enough to qualify for PIP. You will have to demonstrate how the health problems affect your life AND fitting those difficulties to the very narrow descriptors + making sure that the descriptors you are relying on will give you enough points.
?Getting 'child' DLA is totally different than adult PIP and will guarantee nothing.

I do realise that les and actually didn't realise I had said it guaranteed her a benefit, all I said was that if her smallness caused her to lose quality of life then she should deserve it and apply for it.
If things are bad enough in your life that u feel the need to apply and you are an honest person and not looking for an easy ride then again I would advice applying.
To be born with any disability is #### some worse than others and after being placed in a situation that possibly means I want walk has just made me glad I was lucky enough to be granted mobility till now.

Do you have some kind of support workers
Because I think you should have been advised your next step
Are you or have you ever worked??
Just trying to build a picture why you have not had disability benefit
Like a very tall person tends to also suffer with leg and back problems xx
What has happened in the 10 years was it always bad xx

Thanks Sharon there are definitely worse things that could be said about me I will take that as a compliment, don't think I would be much good as a stand up comedian though cause I would definitely not be standing for long :-) what do they say laughter is the best medicine
