I know this is probably a late reply but I have only just applied for PIP as had a fall 8 weeks ago and broke pelvis and hip, I am being treated conservatively as I have a morbid fear of op due to suffering with panic and anxiety for 50 years I also have a long list of other medical conditions, RA 12 years, Spondilitis neck and back, osteoarthritis in certain joints and now wheelchair bound and limited mobility on frame, was receiving low rate DLA but adviced by physiotherapist to apply for high rate, hopefully not permanent but at moment can't get about, I sent in form and have had text back saying if they need me to have assessment they will contact me.

How long roughly does it seem to take, costing me a fortune in wheelchair taxis to get to appointments, any info would be well appreciated.

Alex I had an interview about 4 weeks after making my claim and heard the decision about 4 weeks after that. I hope you do better than I did, they gave me all zeros!! I am astonished, it's as if she was assessing someone else as she didn't take any notice of what I said. I've asked for my case to be reconsidered and for a copy of the interview as I think she lied about everything. Good luck with your claim

Hi thank you for your reply, feel a bit alienated at the moment as can't use our car on strict instructions from physiotherapist and go but can use wheelchair friendly taxis, do they think I'm rich, had to use one the other day for xray appointment and it cost over £30.

Hope you don't mind me asking are you like me wheelchair bound, I hate it and although disabled prior to this at least I could get about, I didn't realise how not being able to walk made you feel till now, anybody out there needing to have to be in one for life gets my heartfelt sympathy and more should be done for them,

Well thought I would keep you in the loop, sent in pip paperwork on the 24th of August, have had a letter back today with appointment next Wednesday, but too far as would need to be in wheelchair minimum of maybe 3 hours and wouldn't be able to sit that long due to pain.

I would also have to have wheelchair taxi as can't go in my car as too low and consultant said would be a no go, so rang them and asked if anywhere nearer and after explaining they changed it to home visit the week after which is very good of them as it would be beyond hell to travel that far with a stranger driving, control freak that I am, part and parcel of ocd I think, so thats pretty quick so is that good or bad LOL also got new wheelchair coming from NHS which will save me a lot of money per month.

Hi no fortunately I don't use a wheelchair but I use sticks to support me.I also have pain when walking in my feet and legs but the assessor seemed to think that I was well. I am really disappointed that the system let me down so cruelly. I don't know how they can be so cruel. I wish you much luck

As far as I am lead to understand you can appeal, get your GP, consultant, OH, physiotherapist and anybody else you see to write reports for you, unless you have already done this, if you have then appeal people will see all that any way.

Hi can anybody help me. I currently get pip & had a letter to complete renewal, completed form late & now recieved letter stating I am having a home assessment, I'm worried about this, why would I get home visit? I was only awarded my pip for 2years, I'm worried it will stop as I work aswell, I have to go to work as if I don't it makes my depression worse although my physical condition is bad & im in constant pain (bad hips & bad back) broken discs & arthritis, I have to position myself all the time I am stood one min & sat next, I spend my days in bed on my days off & don't go out & socialise & I only go out to attend work ,appointments etc. I am really anxious & really worried about this, I am also due to have another procedure on my back this month it's a long standing on going process. I need help with washing get dressed cooking cleaning majority of time. When my mood is really bad I will not move from bed & have had to be watched with my medication. Any help would be great, my visit is next week I only received letter day ago. I'm confused as to why they would come visit me when I have not requested visit & I attended a atos centre when first applied. Thanks

Hi Barbara,, we chatted last yr when we were bothwaiting for pip

Ass,, I got high rate daily living and standard rate mobility was told i

In the award letter it was from July 15 to July 17 all dates inclusive.

At the end of July this year I got a review letter that said return by

August 16 th or payments will stop..my therapists helped me to

Complete the form and I sent it of with relevant paperwork on 31 st July,

July, I got text message on 18 the august saying they had got

Form and on Saturday this WK I got an appointment to go for pip ass,

Next Sunday.Surely if I had been awarded till July 17 I shouldn't be having

Another ass,,, SOE people wait months for the first one.

My therapists had said on the form that there was no change

In most of my problems but I am taking stronger pain killer

For my osteo,, not sure what to expect. Have you had a review letter.

I'm getting worried again and worried this will set bk all treapy I've had.

Hope you are well, take care gentle hugs ,,, Jayne xx

For a fixed term PIP award they will re-assess you 12 months before the end date - so 2016 is right.

Medical centre on Sunday of all days,,, someone's getting double time

Out of my illness,,, I had a weeks notice like you,, wouldn't you think that

With all the people waiting for pip ass ,they would take priority,, if atos

Has such a back load,, you only have to read on the forum how many

Waiting,,, hope all goes well for you ,,big hug,Jayne x

Hi does that mean that if they reassess her/him and deem that they are improved they can stop pip there and then, that would be totally unfair in my opinion, but I don't know so want make an assumption till I'm put right, seems strange they give you a year then retest a year before, I wouldn't be impressed if they wanted to do MOT 6 months early

The re-assessment is treated like a new claim. If they decide that based on the application form and the evidence that a new award is not to be issued your existing award will stop straight away even though you may well have many months left of the old award to run - it's all about saving money - the disabled and sick are the easiest targets to hit.
