Hi Barbara. Good luck with your assessment. I had an assessment recently and they weren't very helpful and gae me zero points. I would advise you to make the most of your assessment by sending as much supporting documentation with your application as possible. They don't accept any paperwork during the assessment but I have sent mine retrospectibely and they are reviewing it. If you can gather information from any health assessors, physio, etc etc photocopy it and send it to them including your national insurance number this will help your application. The assessment itself is a series of questions as to how your condition affects you, how it limits you, what help you need etc. You will also be asked to do some 'physical' excersizes such as lifting both your arms above your head, bending to touch your toes and other things. Remeber you are not out to make yourself ill or in pain, only do what you can comfortably do, if what they ask will result in injury or pain or you will suffer later for it, then politely say why you can't do it. Good luck

Whilst that is good advice, from a practical point of view most assessors will not want to wait for you to go into that amount of detail - normally they will interupt you and move on to the next question. It takes a lot of nerve to tell the assessor to 'hold fire - do you mind, I haven't finished explaining'. No doubt you would then get the usual warning that the assessor can at any time for any reason call a halt to the assessment on the grounds that you are not co-operating with him/her.

No if it takes that long it that long if u got things going on it takes a bit of time to go through what's happening day to day so don't be rushed

Hi les,,,I must say i admire you,, you always have good advice
For everyone,,,, 18 face to face assessments you must be sick
of them,, I'm curious as to what your health issues are.
I had a review assessment on Sunday 11th sept the guy said
to my husband they probably won't bother her for 3years.
In your experience would you say the assessor is right to say
This,, does he know?,,, anyway haven't heard yet,,, but did get
text on 13 th sept today they had all into they needed would
write ,,,, only thing is the ting game is very stressful. !!!!!!!!!!

Yes 18!! DLA every other year since claiming in 1995, ESA x2, AA x1 & IIDB x5
?I have always had reviews with a face to face.
Health issues?
Acquired Brain Damage (Frontal Lobe)
P.T.S.D.
Depression & Anxiety
?Early onset Vascular Dementia
Damaged upper spine (rugby injuries)
?Damaged lower spine (thrown from a horse at speed) which affects walking
Nerve damage - to right side (arm and leg)
?Chronic Pancreatitis
?Peusdocyst on Pancreas (infected & calcified)
?Thrombosis - artery pancreas to spleen
Aneurism in stomach wall
?Type 1 diabetic
Gunshot wounds to shoulder and hip
?Peripheral Arterial Disease of both legs (right one cleaned out - clots at Groin, behind knee & ankle
?plus the usual ailmant that comes with old age - arthritis.
I think that's it.
?Yes the assessor can recomend to the DWP when you should be seen again. However I had all of my DLA awards (High Mobility/Middle Care) as either for life or indefinite, but that didn't stop them wanting to re-assess me every couple of years!!

Thanks
?I honestly believe that my name is flagged up at the DWP (I admit that they may think they have a right to do so).
?In the past I received (by accident) a copy of a private & confidential memo from the assessor to the Decision Maker. In it the assessor was quite blunt - he described me as -argumentative, bombastic, awkward, deceptive and having no integrity)
?When I complained the DWP told me that it was not something that normally happens and that they will get rid of the offending document.
