Plantar Fasciitis

Hey.
I am new to this forum. I was diagnosed as having Plantar Fasciitis in both feet (with one being worse than the other) nearly 2 months ago. I do think I had it long before it was diagnosed but just put the pain down to being on my feet too much. Firstly I tried insoles in my shoes to relieve the pressure. I've recently tried a course of Naproxen (Anti Inflammatory) which also didn't work.
I am now on a waiting list for a steroid injection into the worst foot, the wait apparently is approx 1 month.
Has anyone had the steroid injection? Does it work?

Hi Bloomer,
I'm a runner, and I was able to get my foot pain diagnosed early as plantar fascitis. My doctor told me to massage my foot with a tennis ball and it made it worse. So after looking at all the treatments people had with no success (e.g., injections, surgery), someone on the site mentioned acupuncture and that it seemed to work. Given that I do massage therapy, I decided to massage outside of the affected area because it seems to aggravate it if I massage directly on my inner heel. When I massage the inside of my ankle starting at the acupuncture point and up the calf along my inner thing (my inner arch at the heel is the origin point), the calf pain was excruciating, but it helped a lot. I tried to keep off my foot to prevent irritation and continue to massage my inner leg. Let me to tell you that this helped a lot. There is no cost to doing this yourself. You just have to endure the pain when you massage yourself. Unfortunately, this doesn't work for bone spurs. Give it a try.

I am an avid runner and I've had plantar fasciitis for 10 years. I've used everything you mentioned and it went away for about five years using inserts and stretching. It came back three years ago and I had two shots of Cortizone.
Now it's back again, always in just the same left foot and I'm thinking about a third shot, but I'm wondering if that is healthy.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I have experienced Platar Fasciitis before. I'm in a different city and recently went to a new podiatrist. Got a steroid injection last week and got another today. When she injected the numbing shot,I felt it burn all the way to my toes. When I walked out, no discomfort but I couldn't feel the my foot. It's now six hours later and still numb. Any ideas?

I am also new to this forum and I have to say I am surprised that so many people are resorting to injection and surgery. As a supplier of plantar fasciitis insoles, I would urge you to give these a try first. Many products are designed to allow the metatarsal bones to regain and retain their natural position.
Best of luck
