My husband has been sick for the longest time he has stomach pains Always has an upset stomach

He throws up every morning and feels like he can't eat anything without feeling sick

He had signs of jaundice so he had a number of tests done and they all came back normal except he has high cholesterol

But his liver function was normal too

He has a history of cancer when he was a young teen he had Hodgkin's cancer and and it wasn't detected through blood work only because of a biopsy under his arm

....Doctors can't figure this out does anybody have some suggestions of other tests he could have done or if anyone has suffered the same I've been worried about him

Hi, sorry to here you're hubby's poorly like this. Has your GP sent him for any scans, ultrasounds etc or another biopsy? He can ask for this if he's really worried and ill. He can also ask to be referred to a gastroenterolgist for another opinion. Are you in the UK or elsewhere? If NHS, their budget is tight these days but I don't think he can be refused when he's feeling so ill. Has he tried adjusting his diet, avoiding fatty/spicy foods and alcohol? All these things can cause the symptoms you describe. Best wishes, Pollyanna UK rolleyes

      Thanks,

Actually He doesn't drink when he does it's a glass of red wine for dinner

we have been trying to change our diet and eating balanced meals with veggies and proteins

He is on lamotragine for bipolar disorder but doctors don't think his sickness is because of his meds

i live in Canada I came across this site and it helped me to read about others having the same condition and taking the same meds as me

So I was hoping to find some suggestions for my hubby

He hasn't had scans done doctors think that if your blood test come back normal your fine...

That would be the next thing though is having him referred to a stomach doctor

Yes, best to get to the bottom of it before it gets worse. I know what you're saying about doctors and blood tests as this happened to me too. They tend to rely on them too much I think but I guess we know our own bodies best and have to persist and ask for further investigations. Good luck! confused

This may sound kinda nutty yo some. But I had those same symptons for 10 months and lost 53lbs. I live in the U.S. . I had every test , I think , know to man over those 10 months with no answers. My wife said the only thing left was acupuncture. I was really skeptical though , but didn't know what else to do. So I went to one. The acupuncturist said she didn't know exactly what was wrong , but it involved my heart. So I went a cardiologist and found 95% blockage in three arteries. I had bypass surgery that evening. That was 12 years ago. If my wife hadn't insisted I see the acupuncturist I wouldn't be here todat. So after all my rambling here , I'm just saying nothing showed up in other test. A cardiologist is certainly worth a shot. Unless he's already been tested , it wouldn't hurt. I hope he finds out what it is.

May I kindly ask how your 95% blockage in three arteries was found? Did the non-invasive easy ECG indicate further more invasive testing?

The ECG indicated further testing. The cardiologist did an arterialgram. Don't know about the spelling. Dye is injected through the groin and any blockages show up on a screen. Invasive but life saving.

Ok so I suggested he go to a gastroenterologist (stomach specialist)

So now the search is on

Your right. Have to start somewhere ! I guess I just started with gastroenterologist because the problem was in my stomach. Never dreamed it was the heart. I know my experience doesn't fit everyone , but when all else fails !!!

Thank you for your suggestion portacrean it's definitely something to consider and will keep this in mind

He has had ECGs done but that was shown as normal too

Mind you that was a couple of years ago he thought he was having a heart attack but it ended up being a very bad anxiety attack

Hi Sarah. Just wondering how things turned out for your husband. I'm still battling the H-Pylori misery. Had the treatment but I don't think it worked. Haven't found anyone whose actually been cured of this. Anyway , curious about your husband. Hope all is well.
