Hey Lisa. Not knowing is the worst. It took them 5 weeks to diagnose me with Mono (I had a positive mono spot).

Have they checked you for EbV, CMV, and HHV6? These herpes viruses all cause mono and could give you some insight if any show up as positive or reactivated.

    Hang in there.

IM VERY FRUSTRATED CAUSE I FEEL HORRIBLE. HOW LONG WERE YOU SICK FOR?

      Hi Lisa,

This is very typical of mono, it was the worst feeling I have ever had and I was 54 when I contracted mono,

I felt absolutely horrible for the first six months, nausea, loss of appetite, anxiety, exhaustion, shakiness, muscle pain and weakness. I kept thinking it must be something be something more, my blood work was also good. I have recovered it took a full year for me to feel back to normal, but age has a lot to do with how long it takes to recover.

yes i agree at 52 im at month 9 and think the older you are the longer it takes . so glad you are feeling better . my worst months have been the last 3 hopefully getting better soon .....

i was acutely sick for 3 months. Started to recover for a month and tried to exercise. I relapsed and I'm going on 17 months of this up and down pattern. But I'm 38 and I think it's harder the older you are. Most people recover within a year.

yes i stopped working out at 5 months and yes about 10 months it seems to turnaround . you really have to rest and sleep alot which ive done abd now finding my body doesnt need as much sleep and rest . celery juice helping too ... 17 months is too long you should be better by now ?

are you doing everything possible to get your heakth back ? i had this before 11 years ago but not with mono still awful though it can reavtivate when your hormones drop so i got it at 41 and 52 peri and then meno . hopefully this is the last time for me ... its been hell

MY DIAGNOSIS IS NOT MONO BUT I HAVE EVERY SYMPTOM OF IT. THE WORST IS THE NAUSEA AND JUST FEELING HORRIBLe. does anyone recommend medication to help symptoms subside?

Yep- I've tried celery juice, high dose iv vitamin c, about 20 supplements, multiple diets, anti viral medication (valtrex), I've seen a neurologist, endocronologist, gastroentologist, 2 naturalpaths, an infectious disease doc. I've quit my work and spend a lot of time at home / in bed. I think mono affects everyone differently and my body is taking forever to heal. I have not exercised in 13 months.

Its a terrible sickness. Luckily my anxiety is mostly gone, as is the nausea.

extreme fatigue, muscle pain and weakness and flu like feelings. These all come in waves and sometimes I can manage work and sometimes I can't. I've pulled in some work I can do from home thank goodness.

i know your pain and the HORROR of this virus . my blood work too cane back all normal until i demanded an EbV test which came back positive. this was at month 5 for me and now going into month 9 . so get the epstein barr test asap. there is no cure apart from rest supplements and good diet .im currently doing celery juice every day ...

let us know how you go on with the tests. its pure hell i agree with you !

also whilst doing blood test ask for lyme and hvv6 just get then to test for everything including any parasites

Your blood tests will show if you are currently fighting it or have released anti bodies in the past. Once the acute stages are over which feels like the flu, you then have a chance of suffering from fatigue, which might be what you're going through now. The fatigue part is the worse. It's not just feeling tired which I initially thought it meant. You sadly might have to deal with a whole lot of symptoms and feeling sick is one of them. There is no medication for it. You just have to rest, eat well and drink plenty of water. The hardest part is also trying to make sure you are somewhat active, either going for walks, part time at work and socialising.....but only do these parts when you can and if your body feels up to it. If you have to say no to someone, then say it and make sure you rest. I have had to let everyone close to me know I might flake on them from time to time, without notice. Supplements are recommended on here and other sites, but they are completely up to you. Like Lori has said, my doctor also has told me not to take them as you get most of them in your diet and you don't know what other ingredients you are putting in your body. Keep posting on here on how you feel, this is a great place to reduce your fears. Also keep checking in with your doctor and insist to have blood tests to see if you have the virus EBV antibodies in you? This virus is the worse I have ever dealt with, but I try to remain as positive as I can knowing that one day you will be better..just sadly it can take it's time.

so well said dodge yes vitamins expensive and do they really work ? this virus is so strong and it goes when its ready ... hopefully soon for everybody suffering on here !

I'm sure it was the vitamins that made me turn the corner and be well.

I was taking 1,000mg vit C, B Complex, 5,000Units of Vitamin D and a Fish Oil. I would take these once in the Morning and once in the Evening.

If I couldnt sleep, I would take Benadryl about an hour before I needed to be asleep.

Talk to your doctor and see it they recommend this.

      Hi Leslie,

Just wondering how you are doing now, I'm hoping that you have been seeing improvements and things going in the right direction with the help of the vitamins / herbs as you mentioned. All the supplements you mentioned have been of great help to me too at various times for various things.

Wishing you all the best for the New Year and for good health and happiness for you after I know what must have been a tough time for you with this awful virus. Onwards and upwards thanks to God's healing!

      Hi Craig,

Thank You so much for asking. I have been doing well, however the last couple of nights I started to get the night sweats just like at the beginning of Mono. I'm chalking it up to being under extreme stress for the last few days.

Have you heard of blending celery with 2 ice cubes to help in healing from viruses?

Happy New Year to you and continued good health!!!

Thanks for the best wishes too Leslie, needing it also as still a bit up and down with my back and things in my life too, definitely grateful for your thoughts and best wishes.

Hoping so much that this is just a minor setback that you have been experiencing this week - remember these kind of mini flare-ups can most definitely happen even during the recovery phase and in the months after starting to feel better - so try not to panic hard as it is I know, hoping these night sweats settle down again and you are feeling calmer and under less stress. Stress is definitely a contributing factor and I know that I saw some of my temporary bumps / setbacks when under periods of stress, so hang in there Leslie remember this will pass and just take things slowly and try to remove stress where possible (easier said than done I know).

I do have a friend who is huge on juicing and blending for health / recovery, and I know he uses celery. I haven't tried it myself but thinking about it, don't know all the details of the right kind of mix and things but celery certainly a good thing to take for sure, good for cleansing your system I think.

Hoping you feel much better over the weekend Leslie and do keep in touch let us know how you are doing.

      Craig
