so, I was sick for an entire year and a half with the most horrible feeling of nausea, brain fog, anxiety, and generally ill-feeling like the flu. It turned out to be both EBV and CMV. Epstein-Barr virus and cytomegalovirus. They are all part of the herpes family and will make you feel absolutely terrible. Since then I have had up and down issues with my thyroid. This virus never leaves your body so your immune system is constantly attacking it. I have kept mine at Bay with a strict diet change and supplements. I literally could not get out of bed and missed about six months worth of work. It is the most sick and dark time of my life. but hang in there. I am now back to work full time and working out. Feeling generally good but never the same as before these viruses. But still very happy and full life.

Hoping you are doing much better now Rolane, your messages just remind me what an awful time you went through and can only imagine how hard that must have been during the most intense 6 months, remembering how hard it was for me too during that time and still owing it to God only that managed to feel stronger and better again and get back to a normal and full life.

Even though things more settled now Rolane, your body will continue to get stronger and stronger with more time and each year, particularly in that first 2-3 years, you sometimes think this is as good as it gets now but then it's not until maybe another six months or year down the line you realise you are even more recovered than when you thought you were fully recovered (if that makes any kind of sense!).

Hoping for a peaceful, joyful and happy Christmas for you filled with many blessings.

craig - just suffering so much - the nausea is unbearable and the fatigue is horrendous. DID YOU EXPERIENCE THIS? any supplements i can take?

Lisa , Yes for me the fatigue was horrible and is still lingering at 10.5 months in . Like Craig and others on here have said the first 6 months is the worst. From there it slowly gets better . But its a slow slow better . For me now I have a few good days a week and sometimes i can feel okay and an hour later is there again , and few more hours pass i feel okay again . Its the craziest sickness ever . Hang in there it will slowly get better . You are in for a ride so stay strong and remember it will get better .

i experienced nausea and fatigue. For the nausea I found DGL chewables, Alkaseltzer Gold and homemade ginger tea helped. The fatigue is harder. High dose curcumin supplements help with inflammation and can help a bit with the fatigue (and stomach issues). I take curcumAvail from amazon. Just one a day.

Epstein Barr Virus is what i have , tested positive in March 2018 , and started feeling off in Feb. 2018 . It started off with dizziness and horrible anxiety for no reason . I would wake up feeling fine do my everyday workout , crossFit , bootcamp style workout . Hight intensity workouts . A few hours after my workout i would feel horrible , dizzy , weird mental foggy feeling , flu like symptoms , digestive system was off , and just a ill feeling like crap . When i went to the doctor in March ( natural path doctor ) she knew right away what i had and sent me in for blood tests . EBV positive and Underactive thyroid . The rest of my blood work has been good .

      Hi Lisa,

Oh please do hang in there and get plenty of rest right now, it's so important just to take things one day at a time and I remember that getting through each day was draining and is a real achievement when going through this - so be kind to yourself and if you need to take time out from work / studies / stress and put your health first, give yourself time and space to recover.

The fatigue and low grade fever and just general feeling unwell with various aches and pains were the worst symptoms for me, like David says really want to reassure that things do get better and not to panic if it takes a little while for full recovery as that can definitely be the case with mono and mono-type viruses. Just so sorry you're struggling to get a firm diagnosis, it's definitely worth keeping checking in with the doctor and asking them to keep on top of things with blood tests, etc.

If it is mono Lisa then please be assured that what you're going through is a normal experience, not that it makes it any easier at all it's absolutely horrible to go through, but just want you to know that it gets better and it won't always be this way and you will get back to full health again and not always feel so tired and unwell - it just takes time unfortunately. Hoping and praying you feel much better soon and remember just take things slowly, go at the pace that's right for you right now, don't overdo things, get plenty of rest and if you can talk to someone you trust and who is understanding about how you've been feeling, to have to go through this is hard enough without having to go through it without sharing how you're feeling with someone.

In terms of supplements, some of the ones that helped me as probably mentioned before included Immunace (or another good strong multi-vitamin per day), a B100 complex and/or Co-enzyme Q10 (really good for fatigue / energy levels), higher doses of Vitamin C (1000mg-3000mg per day) and immune boosting herbs like echinacea, siberian ginseng and oregano. Also if you're feeling like your stomach is upset or for nausea, taking a probiotic per day (or eating things like yoghurt each day) can help, and they also say peppermint can be a good supplement for that too I think. But of course again I'm no expert it's always wise to check these things up or get advice from a specialist, even a visit to a herbalist or natural doctor could be worth a try for sure. Another natural alternative therapy which has helped me with various aches and pains, most notably sciatica, is called Bowen Therapy - very safe and maybe something worth looking into also.

Hang in there Lisa, I believe you are going to get through this and get better again, will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and remember God is a good God and knows the bigger picture and won't ever leave you.

Hoping this awful fatigue lifts Lisa, remember if it is mono this is normal and it does get better with time - B100 complex and co-enzyme Q10 can help with this, gingko biloba is another one too I think can help with that though not 100% sure worth checking that out first.

First 6 months I had many of the symptoms very similar to you Lisa, real fatigue, sweating, low grade fever, just generally feeling unwell and with aches and pains in different areas of body - just hard to describe but just feeling 'stunted' as though I knew I wasn't myself.

Thanks Craig. Me too. My mri came back normal thank goodness.

I'm in a bit of a bad crash now- shaking, muscle fatigue, etc. I had been taking coq10 and ran out a few months ago. I'll grab some more! And I'll look into gingko biloba! As always, your reassurance and support help so much. Thinking and praying for you too! I hope your health has improved!

      Hi Lisa,

So sorry to hear you've had a setback at the moment, these episodes I know can be very frightening and discouraging - please hang in there Lisa and remember to tell yourself this is temporary and it will pass, because it will - Lori you are right for sure trying to keep calm and not panic and to rest is good, but I know it's easier said than done when feeling so awful and unwell. Really hoping things are a bit more settled day and thinking about you Lisa, you've had such a tough time and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

It is good that the MRI came back as normal, hoping that has offered some reassurance, and yes for sure the Co Q10 can be a really good one along with or alternately with B100 complex. Cayenne Pepper and Feverfew too, particularly taken from tea time onwards, can be good as they can help your system relax and unwind and hopefully assist with good sleep too.

Thanks so much for your prayers too Lisa, it really means a lot I'm very grateful. We need God's help so much right now, praying for His mercy and healing and goodness and hope and peace to fill our bodies and our lives.

Still believing that you are going to get there Lisa, back to full health and fitness again, even though it's been such a long road I know - remember there is hope and there will be a turning point with this - you will get your breakthrough I really do believe that, thinking of you still.

Also just a point that I'm aware of the two different Lisa's on this thread I know it can get confusing!! And I know you have both being going through such a hard time, just hoping for settled and good day for you and everyone here.

It's so hard Lori, to have the strength to deal with those kind of symptoms and experiences day after day for months was by far one of the worst and hardest things I've ever had to go through. Words can't describe how hard it is to deal with it and how much fear and depression can set in. Praying God can set us all free from fear and depression and any pain or illness that's trying to rob our joy and freedom, in Jesus' name.

And absolutely there is hope and recovery, just so grateful that God pulled me through that time because there's no way I could have done it on my own strength - and I truly believe He is going to do the same for everyone on this thread here and pull them through, even if it seems far off now, hang in there because God is working all the detail our for everyone's good and recovery I believe that.

Thanks for the best wishes Lisa, I am still believing that your breakthrough is on its way and hoping, praying and believing that 2019 is going to be a year of recovery, joy and peace for you.

Such a good message you wrote there about hope - it's so important and there is always hope because of God, it's sometimes not easy to see or feel it in the hard moments I know, but we know it's there and praying for God to fill us with new hope and belief today!
