Post Op milkshakes

Hi

The main thing I was dreading was being sick, it would be so painful. I have been having the shakes/soups for 4 days now but don't fancy them anymore. The thought of taking anoher milkshake makes me feel sick. I am drinking plenty of water - does anyone have any suggestions.

you can have a bovil drink - or veg boullion drink or a very clear soup I made butternut squash soup which i watered down a lot so it wasnt thick (the way i normally make it)  Least if you make a home made soup it somehow feels better than a tin or packet etc - try some different flavoured cups of tea for a change but unfortunately you have to keep at the thin consistency for those first 2 weeks x

I have noticed a lot of people have a milk diet before and after having their band fitted. I'm lactose intolerant so wouldn't be able to do this. Are there other options?

i think you can substitue milk for almond milk or soya milk - possibley coconut milk.  You will have to discuss with whoever you go with for alternatives but Im sure there will be some x

Hi, just to say, I never had a milk diet before the op, just had to have 1000 calories a day for 2 weeks beforehand. Afterwards, you can have the soups instead of the shakes so you won't need to have the milk. You may have to take calcium tablets instead, I'm sure there will also be other alternatives.

As for the pre op diet, it depends on the surgeon and each individual patient!

She initially lost 10 stone in about 14 months - she stuck for a while but she is down another 3 stone now - she goes to the gym and she looks fantastic.  She is taking me tomorrow, i feel like ive just had my last supper !!! I am under Tooting but op is at St Anthony in Cheam.  My pre op has been low carb, protein and veg so not so bad.
