Posterior repair advice - how did you feel?

Hi everyone - I'm just under five weeks posterior repair surgery. If you have had the surgery how did you feel at the same time? I am worried as at the moment I feel I still have the prolapse and I actually feel more uncomfortable/pain now than I did before the op. I still have pain/discomfort when going to the toilet and don't feel any different than that, is this normal? I'm still taking Lactulose twice a day and senacot every other day and drinking and eating healthy and resting lots even though I am still uncomfortable sitting and standing and lying down! I am at my post op on the 23rd and I just wondered how everyone felt up to six weeks as at the moment it feels like it's failed for me and getting me down sad Anyone's personal experience of this would be appreciated, thank you

Well I dont know what to do now-i have been treated all week on antibiotics for a suspected urine infestion and results have come back today with no infection. However i am still running up and down the stairs needing to pass urine and could not possibly leave the house. The receptionist said they have no appointments for the GP I saw last week for three weeks and no other appointments at their nearest practice so I have got an appointment for next week at a different health centre that is a partner. If it is no better in the next couple of days UI will have to get an emergency appointment as finished the antibiotics

Hi Angela, thank you for your reply you put on - I'm sorry for your symptoms of course but since I put the post on the other day I have felt unwell with urine/bladder infection symptoms just like you! I don't know if for me that it is the recovery as I also feel flu like with headache and sore throat too but it has reassured me those symptoms with the bladder maybe linked to recovery. Hope you feel better soon, if I still feel like it tomorrow I may try and get a gp appointment as I don't think I can wait till my 6 week post op check next week with the symptoms if I may need antibiotics. Good luck and take care x

I was lucky that I only took painkillers for about a week and bowels settled after a couple of weeks.

At 5 weeks there will still be lots of a swelling which will feel a bit like when you had the prolapse.

I'm sure after a couple more weeks the discomfort will start to ease. In the mean time it's important u don't overdo things x
