Posterior repair for a rectocele
Posted , 63 users are following.
I am going into hospital next week for a posterior repair to hopefully sort out the rectocele I have had for the last year.
I would be grateful for any information and comments from anyone who has undergone this procedure.
I am very nervous and embarrassed about the whole thing. I will definately leave comments on my experience once it is over.

Had a wonderful surgeon in new jersey that I found, even though I live in virginia beach, virginia.
Everything went well, surgery took approx 2 hours and was done outpatient.
I work as an anesthesia/surgical assistant and am on my feet all day at a very busy oral/maxillofacial surgery office.
I took 2 weeks off of work but not sure that will be enough.......
Any of you ladies have advice for me?
Your advice will be much appreciated.

I'm curious about how you are feeling now. I'm 50 and have 5 children...which is what apparently contributed to the rectocele I'm having surgery July 14 th for the rectocele and for TVT. I read so many horror stories yet spoke to someone I met the other day who had an anterior and posterior repair and she said she had barely any pain and although she didn't do much heavy work, she felt she resumed normal life fairly quickly.
I would love to hear your point of view. Some people say they had a swollen stomach and couldn't sit...I had episiotomies with my babies and don't remember it being all that bad to be honest.
i hope you're feeling well.

My surgeon was Dr Marc Pelosi III in Bayonne New Jersey
I dont think I will be ready to return to work after 2 weeks, I stand all day... assisting an oral surgeon.
Thought I would be ok but pretty sure I wont be that quick.
Hope this helps.

My husband has had 2 crainiotomies (brain tumors) and my recovery may be longer. We are blessed as God has placed us withgreat medical people.
This forum has been wonderful, I read many experiences before my surgery making me very informed. Thank you all for sharing.

I just had the rectaseal operation via spinal spinal block. All went well except by next afternoon I had a raging fever of 103 degrees celciius. The doctor determined I had an infection and put me on an antibiotic and kept me overnight. By next morning things hadn't much improved and and the catheter was irritating as hell. Causing more pain than helping. Told them to remove or I would. They came and removed and ll and behold, I also had a UTI. They added a third antibiotic to regimen to help heal all infections. Needless to say things did not go smoothly for me. It's extremely painful to urinate. I can pass stool ok due to Linzess it completely softens my stool and makes sure that my system is purged of stool daily. I have ZiBS with Constipation and this medicine has been a godsend. Haven't gotten past the pain so don't know what to say there. Good luck.

I have now at last been diagnosed with this after years of knowing something was wrong but the doctor is trying to say I shouldn't have the op, but instead try a pessery which I don't think is helping. Also can anyone tell me if they had skin problems like acne or rosasha along with the other problems
