Can't hardly walk or function. I tried to curl up in bed and just rest, but that is to uncomfortable too...Don't know how I am going to stand it until next Friday morning....UGG.....guess I just have to hang in their....no other choice...Sorry for venting here.....I know so many of you have it way worse than I do.....Thanks for listening....Barb

    Been there done that, GP put me on Morphine like patch attached to the back of my hip, OHHHHHH the relief was brilliant. Patch was taken off the the surgery, as I pointed it out to the operating room staff.  If i remember correctly it was called NORSPAN.

    Good Luck N.P.B

    I got my first THR, 3 1/2 yrs ago, my hip was so bad it crumbled when it was taken out.  I was back to full activities 3 and 1/2 months later, and my activities were numerous.

    As I sit here now Aug 7th, I will be 2 weeks post op on my other hip on Monday 8/8. Hopefully, this hip will work out as well as my first.

    You will be so HAPPY when your hip is fixed !!  I would hope you get some pain relief since you wrote your original post  !!

    You know there a lot of ppl thinking positive thoughts for you !!!

      Thanks Rich;

      I have been trying to make myself get some rest, not too difficult when it hurts so bad to move. I am one who tends to do to much and overdo it a lot. Hard for me to learn to lay around and not try to do anything. I am looking forward to being out of this pain. I am 11 weeks post op from right hip replacement, mine was horrible but don't believe that it crumbled when they took it out yikes! I thought I let mine go for too long...I also had a fracture and wasn't allowed to bear full weight for a few weeks. A lot of the pain did go away but of course with the left being really bad also it never did go away all the way. Then lately it seems to have just started deteriorating, and getting worse and worse. Good thing I told my surgeon go ahead and set it up for the left side to be done because it sure has got worse since. Then this week not having my Ibuprofin 600 to help with the inflammation and pain it is terrible. I know why they have to make me quit taking it, but sure is going to be a miserable week. Having all the lovely hippies on here to talk to and ask questions is a life saver. I could talk to my husband or family but I truly don't think anyone understands 100% if they haven't been through it. I am looking forward to hopefully being out of pain and being able to walk unaided for the first time in several months. Wishing you well, and hope your recovery is quick....Barb

    Hi Barb .so understand your pain and from the looks of all the responses you are understood by many.I'm sorry as I know this is really a painful time .Use ice just to take the inflammation down.I used a portable tens unit and a topical ointment called Penatrex .Between the penatrex and the TENS plus Tramadol it just makes it barely tolerable.Good luck with the surgery
