Once I was diagnosed with PMR and placed on prednisone I visited my ophthalmologist regularly every six months. I am also on inhaler  for reactive airway disease and that makes it even worse. Fortunately I am being lowered to the lower strength.

They also check my eye pressure and that hasn't changed in 1 3/4 years of PMR.

Hi karenjaninaz, glad to hear that the Pred has not effected your eyes, I scheduled for my exam early September, hope I have the same results! Keep smiling! 🙂

I went to my ophthalmologist after being on pred for over half a year and my ocular pressure was up, not quite glaucoma but enough to warrant careful monitoring.  He had me back in four months.  By then my pred dose was down, and the pressure had decreased nearer my normal.  I kept a regular every two years appointment about eight months later, and was told to come back annually as long as I was on even the smallest dose of pred.  He also seems a lot more knowledgeable about GCA and prednisone than my gp.

Anhaga, some doctors do study not only their field, but other fields that could effect their field of study. Thank God! Glad you have one and your eyes are better! That should put a smile on your face. 🙂
