Premique low dose - pharmacies which CAN supply it

Posted , 20 users are following.

Premique (both strengths) was out of production for up to a year, and then Pfizer (the manufacturer) announced they were no longer producing the higher strength.  The Low Dose (LD) came back into production in February 2017 but in another forum here it has become very apparent that both GPs and pharmacies widely believe, incorrectly, that even the LD is no longer available.

THIS IS NOT TRUE!

It would appear that different pharmacies (including different locations of the same chain) use different distributors, and not all of the distributors are sourcing Premique.  This means that one branch of Boots may be able to obtain it for you, and another may not.  I've started this thread so that anyone who has had successes or failures in getting Premique LD can post the details here, in order to benefit others.  So I'll start the ball rolling:

YES - Boots in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

NO - Boots in Brandon, Suffolk

I've been on this drug for thirteen years and this is the third time this has happened. At least before, you could use the full dose and cut it in half with no problems. Now,there is no alternative.  How a massively wealthy company like Pfizer have the gall to send a non-medical inquirer to their self-inflated website instead of being able to access a genuine helpline with useful information is beyond me.  If there's an increase in demand, one would think it would be "All systems go" to make hay while the sun shines before the "experts" change their minds again!

I sent a complaint to Pfizer's legal team a couple of weeks ago and they have just replied with an apology and saying they anticipate stock to arrive early October 2018.  It's written black and white now, but it's not a promise, just an anticipation.

Now can't get it at my chemist, where I have always got it before! I only have 4 days left uhg! He told me to keep trying every couple of days as it will be in. Then he said to order more when it does come in and they will keep it for me. He said to take one every other day, to make my 4 tabs last at least a week. 😢😢😢

With huge relief I have managed to get my 6 month supply after running out at the end of August. My local pharmacy said they've never had any trouble getting it - but then they said hardly anyone seems to be on it in my area so maybe they haven't had to order it very often. I did actually try there when I ran out and they said they couldn't order it, so maybe I just got lucky this time. My local pharmacy is Halls the Chemist in case anyone wants to try their nearest one - they obviously use a different supplier than Boots, Sainsbury's and Tesco

My regular chemist says that they have been given a small supply so have been able to satisfy those clients with outstanding orders but they will not be getting any more allocated until November. Shop around, ladies!
