Premique low dose - pharmacies which CAN supply it
Posted , 20 users are following.
Premique (both strengths) was out of production for up to a year, and then Pfizer (the manufacturer) announced they were no longer producing the higher strength. The Low Dose (LD) came back into production in February 2017 but in another forum here it has become very apparent that both GPs and pharmacies widely believe, incorrectly, that even the LD is no longer available.
THIS IS NOT TRUE!
It would appear that different pharmacies (including different locations of the same chain) use different distributors, and not all of the distributors are sourcing Premique. This means that one branch of Boots may be able to obtain it for you, and another may not. I've started this thread so that anyone who has had successes or failures in getting Premique LD can post the details here, in order to benefit others. So I'll start the ball rolling:
YES - Boots in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
NO - Boots in Brandon, Suffolk

I'm waiting for Low Dose Premique, having been told by Pfizer that it would arrive at my pharmacist first week of September 2018. I just called Pfizer customer contact centre on 01304 616161 to check, and they told me there is a FURTHER DELAY causing them to be OUT OF STOCK until 21 September 2108! I explained that I am already suffering hot flushes and severe acne, but they said there was nothing they could do and that the delay is caused by an unforeseen increase in demand.
I asked how I could make a formal complaint as this is the third time I have experienced a break in my supply because of their delays. They gave me the following address: The Legal Department at Pfizer Ltd, Warton Oak, Dorking Road, Warton on the Hill, Hadworth, Surrey, KT20 7NS.

Hi, have just called Pfizer, latest date is now end of September. I have a nightmare trying to get hold of this, will also write a formal complaint it’s so maddening that they have continuous problems with their supplies. 😝 😠 😡

Having some real problems with getting hold of this as well, it's hugely frustrating. I was on zoladex before having a hysterectomy in Dec and I'm twenty-eight. Premique low dose finally got prescribed in Feb and I got three months, then admitted into the hospital with severe migraines and passing out due to side effects, the put me on kliovance because again it's 'discontinued' and now nobody knows what to do as kliovance is giving me the same problems. I'm so sensitive to them and have severe osteoporosis. Is premin the nearest alternative and does anyone have any suggestions for natural help? It's mainly migraines, extreme hot flushes and hairiness and big dips in anxiety levels that I struggle with.
Thanks so much! X

I just called Pfizer (on 01304 616161 option '2' then wait on hold if you don't have an access code) and they said it has been delayed further still until 'early October' and this is only an 'estimate'.

So sorry to hear about your problems Sophie. Pfizer have been messing us around for almost two years now, and it seems that no-one there has a clue about what they're doing. Talk about mis-managing expectations! But Premique is NOT discontinued, they 'simply' have some manufacturing issues that they obviously don't know how to resolve.
I'm afraid I'm not qualified to comment on Premin or any other HRT option, as Premique LD is the only one I've ever taken. A homeopathic route may help you, but I'd recommend seeing a professional for best advice.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I think the least they could do would be to give public information on why this keeps happening. Also some warning of "manufacturing issues" would be very helpful, so we could be prepared.

Latest update is I just called Pfizer (on 01304 616161 option '2' then wait on hold if you don't have an access code) and they said it has been delayed further still until 'early October' and this is only an 'estimate'.
I don't know what more we can do about this situation. I've complained formally in writing to Pfizer about the on-going delays, but they haven't responded, except someone phoning me to ask about any 'adverse effects' caused to me by Premique, which I don't have.
Why is this pharmaceutical supplier (supposed to maintain health) allowed to have a monopoly over a vital medical treatment, and who is accountable to patients in need of it? Does anyone here know of the next line of call, like an ombudsman or something? Or will further fuss cause them to decide to actually discontinue it? Your thoughts on this are welcome!

It would be great if someone does know. I can't believe that they can just stop it when women rely on it so much but without any warning. Fingers crossed it comes back in! I'm going to try contacting Pfizer as well either tomorrow or Mondays no reply from emails xx

Good luck contacting them. I can't help wondering if it was a medicine men needed, if they might take the issue more seriously!
