    Hey Everyone,

I'm happy to see I'm not alone. Like most of you I've been to doctors mostly all GPs over the past 2 years about these sensations. I've had blood tests, MRI/CT scans which came back normal. There was one blood test that I tested positive for ANA and Jo-1, an anti inflammatory disorder. I was referred to a rhemotologist for that. He told me he doesn't know what's wrong with me and I'm too young to be sick (I'm 25) and told me to enjoy life, get out more, meet friends, and lose weight (I am 240lbs,108kg, 17.1st and I know I'm quite overweight on days that I can workout I do). I was in tears when I left his office. I know I need to lose weight. I WISH I can enjoy life but these sensations limits EVERYTHING. I can't keep a job because I get dizzy from these sensations.

My husband is quite older than me and we're ready to have a family. I can't even imagine carrying a baby for 9 months along with these sensations.

What my sensations feel like: Some days they're on one side of my head, worse days they're all around my head. Usually it feels like a throbbing sensation, and tightness; as well as, pins and needles, crawling, pulsation of veins, fuzzy, watery, and fullness.

Along with the sensations I sometimes experience: chest discomfort, ringing in ears, neck and shoulder aches, watery sore/weak eyes. Sometimes I feel like I have the flu. Short term memory loss I feel like I'm developing early stages of alzheimers, some days I forget if I even showered it's sad. Last night I experienced a feeling that has never happened. From the right side of my shoulder up toward my neck it felt like a golf ball as pushing so hard into that area all the way up and today sensations has been the worse it has been in awhile - has this happened to anyone?

My sensations are made worse by: Loud noises (I feel like an old grandma. Our house is always quiet), strong fragrances, alcohol intake (I used to ENJOOOOY a glass of bubbly at the end of the day, but it has now ended up with my head sensations going off the charts crazy! So I haven't had alcohol in 2 years)

I've found a little relief with: Having a nap, going for a walk, watching a movie to take my mind off of the sensation, yoga/neck exercises, heat pack on neck, massages.

When I've told family how I was feeling they said things like, "It's from being overweight", "It's homesickness (I moved to a different country)", "It's anxiety", "It's just a migraine it'll go away", "Just relax". I know they're trying to help but it frustrates me even more because they're trying to be the doctor but they're not. I know lots of people in my life look at me as some lazy woman, but I am not. This (I guess I can call it an unknown illness) illness is ruining my life. I feel like I'm literally disabled mentally/physically (at times).

Doctors/specialists seem to be careless and useless. Sometimes I just want to slap them in the face. They just care about their money at the end of the day. I just wish someone CARED! They just diagnose me with anything just to get me out their office. I've been diagnosed with, vertigo, arthritis, and other stuff that I forgot. I know my body I know from research that I don't have those things they want to diagnose me with. Also when I tell doctors they give me the look like I'm some crazy demented woman! It makes it embarrassing for me to talk about with anyone now. My husband tries to understand but he's the main one that tell me it's anxiety and to stop coming up w/ "theories". I'm so alone with this. I gets me really depressed to the point where I don't see the point of life any more.

From reading through most of this thread I'm going to look into getting a scan on my neck and shoulders because I think the aches may contribute to the sensations.

Anyway just wanted to post my story and hope that someone finds a cure for this agonising illness.

Hi any luck so far. I'm 27 years old female. February 2017 i was digitised with bronchitis after that i always get irritations on my throat that cause coughing, sore throat, wounds in my mouth, and blocked throat. i started being oversensetive to smell (washing powder, cleaning detergents, flowers, aircon and dust)and all these smells cause throut irritation wich lead to coughing. since September I've been having back neck pain, swollen legs, sore throat, blocked air muscles including ears....and they give me medicine for tonsils. two weeks latter weekend of 14 October 2017 it happened again it started with back neck pain, the head ache, blocked air muscles incliding ears, i would feel chest tightness and chest pain. i remember i was standing at a funeral and all my air muscles were blocked, i feel dehydrated but I was drinking water i felt like i was gonna die right there. I just sit down for moment and thats where i realised the pressure as if something was pushing to get out. i went to see a doctor right away it was Sunday 15 October 2017 and he said its allergy and the medicine i got never help then the next day i went to see the other doctor and she said its stress and inflammation and she gave me antiinflammation pills and sleeping pills. then for the first few days i was having panic attacks, my mind took over and i actually feel like i were crazy. the moment i pass next to strong smelling flowers or any strong ordor or noise my heart would beat faster, i would be scared, blocked at a moment and i would feel that preasure moving from the back of the neck towards the forehead. since i do alot of reading, i learn that exercise, health diet and deep breath is important then I'm doing yoga and all those i do not panick anymore i continue with the pills and everything was under control now the pill is finished and those things are happening again. IS THERE ANYONE WHO HAVE GOT SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM? I REALLY NEED HELP. I FEEL LIKE I CAN JUST WALK INTO EMERGENCY ROOM AND ASK THEM TO PUT ME ON DRIP WITH POTASSIUM 40 OR ANYTHING THAT WILL CLEAR THIS THREAT. I'M CURENTLY TRYING IMMUNE SYSTEM BOSTER MAYBE ALL THESE MEDICINES HAS KILL ALL THE GOOD SOLDERS IN MY IMMUNE SYSTEM

    Hi,

I was just wondering what kind of vision problems accompained people's head pressure (if any). I also have the feeling of constant pressure behind my eyes, but I don't have blurred or double vision, instead it just feels different and hard to describe. It's as though when I move my eyes it takes a moment longer for my vision to catch up - as though it takes a split second longer to focus than it normally should. The only sensation I can liken it to a slight drunk feeling; like when you can see everything but you don't really take it all in. My eyes feel strained and tight when I move them which I intially thought was eye strain from using computers all day, but I was prescibed lenses a few months ago with a special filter on to prevent eye strain from computer screens and the problem has persisted.

This feeling is constant and is accompanied by a more generalised head pressure (the usual full, heavy feeling with a particularly 'full' feeling in my foreheard). Has anyone else experienced vision symptoms similar to these? Sorry it's so difficult to describe the sensation precisely!

I have experienced vision symptoms similar to what you described - especially the feeling of tightness and strained eyes. It's really hard to describe. What helps the strain subside for you? And what daily activities does the tightness/strain affect? I initially thought it was from using computers all day - a few years ago, I asked for computer glasses to see if they would help. I have never been drunk, so I'm not sure what a drunk feeling is like. :D The words on a page may blur up for a second or a while, though (same with general vision), as the strain starts to feel worse. I don't have blurred or double vision, and my eyes check out fine whenever I get tested.

Feeling is constant here and accompanied by a head pressure too.

I thought I had eye strain for several years and in the past two summers I have traveled with a list of symptoms, hoping to find answers to no avail. However, I went to neurologists and various eye specialists (along with physical therapists and a chiropractor) - not ENTs or other areas of expertise - I'm realizing that not going to other kinds of doctors may have been a big mistake. I have two more weeks of going to the acupuncture doctor, and then I will move on to other specialists - might have to go outside my rural area again.

The question becomes, endy do you also think the pressure behind your eyes could actually be behind the sphenoid sinus?

(I really need to condense my posts and snip a lot of my regurgitating self-stories ha)

can't edit my previous post, but wanted to add: I was referring to what new56862 mentioned - the sphenoid sinus, deep behind the bridge of the nose.

I think it's possible I may have been attributing the location of where the pressure is to behind the eyes, when it could be nearby but rather behind the bridge of the nose.

Thanks for the reply! Just looking focussing on one thing usually helps the feeling subside - so computer work is actually fine because I'm just looking at the screen. However, when I move my head/eyes to look somewhere else then the sensation hits. It kind of feels like I'm slightly disconnected from everything. It's something I'm conscious of throughout the day and I always get the urge to just close my eyes to relieve the feeling of it. And yes, my eye tests always check out fine too.

I'll look up the sphenoid sinus, although I wasn't sure if it could be sinus related as I don't have any of the nose/congestion/cold symptoms. Am seeing my doctor tomorrow so will mention that, but before I've just been told it's tension headaches which is frustrating!

Using the computer (unless I have to do arduous, focused tasks) is fine for me because I'm just looking at the screen as well. It's when I have to input things from paper files where the constant looking up and looking down (or side to side) becomes terribly uncomfortable (or constant scrolling and reading from the computer).

Does closing your eyes help? Sometimes, I have to actually sleep in a bed for it to subside. I'm so frustrated from being told it's tension headaches as well - have tried lots of headache/migraine medication before. I’m just as lost.

I thought the same about the sinus, but apparently the isolated sphenoid sinusitis doesn't have symptoms of nose/congestion/cold symptoms. I don't have nose/congestion/cold symptoms either. New56862 mentioned maybe a sinus drainage pathway being blocked so that the pressure equalises (or something along those lines)

I’m referring to his posts (here are three excerpts by new56862 – “Are to suffer with this dreaded head pressure, mine is behind the bridge of my nose sort of come from the ethmoid sinus area. I'm certain mine is not psychological. I'm pretty sure it's air that is trapped somehow and won't equalise without the outside air pressure.”

“I have had this pressure feeling from behind my nose for 4 months now. It leads to headaches the more active I am. It sort of builds up as soon as I get up on a morning. It's such an uncomfortable feeling. I have a theory of what might reduce the symptoms. A grommet put into the ear drum. This basiaclly lets air in and out of your head so it will reduce the pressure.”

“My theory is that there is a sinus caivity that has somehow become blocked and is trapping air in there. This air can't circulate so cannot equalise with the air pressure outside the head. This is why when MRI and CT scans and done it doesn't show a sinus issue, as the sinus cavities aren't full, I do however think the drainage pathway is blocked.”

I'm relieved that it looks like I'm not just imagining what's going on. A few doctors tried convincing me it's 'in my head,' and that really annoyed me.

Yeah I have the same actually - it's fine when I'm reading from the screen, but it's when I look back forth between paper and computer that the feeling is exacerbated.

Closing my eyes definitely helps and generally my vision feels better in the evening - I'm not sure if I'm more sensitive to the light during the daytime or whether the feeling doesn't actually change in the evening and it's just because the 'tired eye' feeling seems more natural to have at night so I feel like it's less of a problem then.

Thank you for copying those over, they look really useful and I will mention it to the doctor.

Yes it's a comfort to know other people are experiencing the same. Doctors visits can definitely be frustrating - especially when the symptoms are hard to clearly describe!

Yeah, once 7 PM (or darkness) comes, for some reason my vision/eyesight isn't as much of a problem at night. Finding a doctor who will listen to or read what I am typing to print out won't be easy for me (I'll try to make it not so long-winded).  Most likely, a nurse will make a note for the doc or attach my note to some papers.

Since this (whatever 'this' is, I don't have a name for it) started, it has ever so gradually gotten worse as far as how long it takes before I notice that the pressure is affecting my discomfort levels. Tolerance for exercise and activities (before the aching begins) has decreased. Have you noticed that?

Agh!! I am typing a lot more than I should, and mostly about my own problems! Gotta stop the rambling thing about stuff here - it's like I'm spilling what I've kept quiet about with most everyone I know outside close family. sad  I'm so relieved to hear experiences similar to mine, but yet it's frustrating that we are having problems getting this problem (whatever is causing this) recognized. Feel free to message me on this forum (think the inbox feature works on this site).

On another note, I think new56862's idea for an e-mail group is a darn good idea!

Wow I really can't believe how many people have such similar symptoms and doctors don't have a clue what this is. Certainly needs investigating.

Has anyone had any relief from it like me? 2 months ago I heard a hissing from my left ear as if air was being released from somewhere inside my head. I felt fine for a day or so before pressure returned.

That's why I think this is so show related to sinus cavities being blocked somehow.

I will be glad to set up an email group so we can share what we've been through and maybe get infoation and evidence to take to doctors.

My eyes are more sensitive to light, I think it's because the pressure causes me to have a headache so light just increases the symptoms. When I go outside it takes my eyes longer to get used to the light.

The pressure is definately affecting my eyes. When I move them from side to side I get I little eye pain.

i have the exact same problem with my eyes,  and people dont understand when i try and say i feel drunk and my eyes arent there yet when i lok at something. but i dont have any routine to anything, some days it can be ok, some days it can be really bad that i feel like my eyes are going round in my head when im just sat still. i guess its just the same with my head, i have good days and bad days with that too. but im just fed up now, its been 18 months constant and i cant even hold downa  job, the one im currently in ive been in for 5 months and i had 4 weeks off in one go, i cam back to work last week and im just not managing so i have had to hand my notice in and its ruining my life

everyone seems to have seen a lot of specialists, i know a lot of them havent helped much but i am being offered hardly anything compared to you guys and im only 19, they dont care because they think i will grow out of it but they dont see the effects it has on you as a person. anything that hasnt been the gp or neuro i have had to pay for treatment, and liek i said, im only 19, this has a massive financial strain on me sad

Hi there! how did your appointment go?
    • Posted

Hi, thanks for asking! Not great really - very inconclusive. He basically said he wasn't sure what it could be, but didn't think it was sinus related. He suggested it could be anxiety as I've got a big deadline coming up, but I don't actually feel stressed about it so not sure how anxiety could be having such physical effects on me. I suppose the only thing I'm anxious about it my health so it could be a vicious cycle! They're unwilling to refer me for any tests or scans which is frustrating because I've felt like this for quite a while now and would like some peace of mind. How are your symptoms?
    • Posted

Good to hear from you! My symptoms are the same as usual.

"He basically said he wasn't sure what it could be, but didn't think it was sinus related" ===> Was this an ENT? Did he say anything else about why he didn't think it was sinus related, or who else you could consider seeing?

"They're unwilling to refer me for any tests or scans which is frustrating" ====> I'm sorry to hear that! sad

" I don't actually feel stressed about it so not sure how anxiety could be having such physical effects on me." ===> Many doctors have told me they think it might be stress-related, but I feel like their bringing up stress/anxiety in particular is an easy cop out because they have no idea what else could be going on and are not willing to look into it more.

"It's as though when I move my eyes it takes a moment longer for my vision to catch up - as though it takes a split second longer to focus than it normally should. The only sensation I can liken it to a slight drunk feeling; like when you can see everything but you don't really take it all in." ===> what you wrote in this post describes one of my symptoms very well...having to constantly work (just for that split-second) to take it all in makes the (already present) head pressure much more bothersome.

Hi. What we are experiencing is not anxiety, believe me. It makes me mad that doctors keep saying this, they said that to me as well. Get your story on the Email group and let's try and fight this together.
