Probiotic for LS

Posted , 11 users are following.

Hi I’ve just had confirmation from biopsy that I definitely have LS. Luckily they say it’s mild and in early stages.

I’ve already done lots of research on things to try to help relieve symptoms but I really want to do all I can to prevent this getting worse!

Do any of you ladies recommend a good probiotic (I’m in UK) ?  I’ve started taking Vit D and Magnesium Glycinate but would anyone suggest any others they feel help them?

Any top tips to live with this awful thing comfortably will be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Debbie

Hi Debbie I would advise that you are careful about fusing creeping up on you. When I was first diagnosed I worked at keeping myself comfortable, not realising that fusing just happens without you being aware.

You need to rub the Clobetasol well in, paying attention to the folds and edges of the labia where they are close to others. I don't use prohibitive so can't help there. Good luck Ann

Thank you Ann..oh the joys! I’ll be sure to do that.. noticing that my labia is shrinking a fair bit on one side..it’s so upsetting isn’t it.

HI I’m in the UK. I saw a dietitian for IBS and she recommended Aflorex Boots sell it -it is expensive and too early for me to say how effective as only been taking it for 2 months. There is one called Symprove which gets good write ups but haven’t tried it myself

I know how you feel I never knew you could get something like this if your immune system was out of whack. I have the burning in the vagina area. If they would just give you something for that I would feel a lot better.

    Hi Debbie,

I take a probiotic every day and I think it helps LS and is very good for us on the whole.  I also use a Borax solution spray after shower in addition to the Clob as directed.  Good luck to you.

I’m interested in the Borax formula if you wouldn’t mind sharing. Thanks

Hi Minnie, my method is not very scientific.  I take a bowl of water and start adding the Borax, stirring constantly, when the borax stops dissolving it is saturated.  I put the mixture in a spray bottle.  That's my method.  Not sure what others do.

Hi you can just Borax in your bath too..one tablespoon with one of baking soda I believe is what’s recommended.

I do not live in the UK. I live in the US. I use Culturelle. You can also try yogurt which is a natural probiotic, sauerkraut, pickled vegs.

For treatment I use Clobetasol (US) Emuaid (available on Internet), coconut oil to keep the skin soft and prevent burning when you are urinating.  I use the Emuaid First Aid cream.  It's great.  I know others say not to use Clobetasol but it's the only thing that prevents the disease from coming back. I've been using it for 4 years and am now symptom free for the last 2 years! So I say it works.. for me.

Hi Debbie, I really do believe that a probiotic helps LS...probiotics help your immune system and LS is an autoimmune disease.  I live in California.  I would ask your pharmacist for recommendations on which probiotic to buy.  They are expensive but worth it.

Thanks Jeri..Culturelle is available on Amazon here but there’s several types..which do you recommend?
