Hi everyone is different but after trying most things since diagnosis in 2013 I just try to eat sensibly with dress fruit and vegetables. 2 weeks ago I started drinking a glass of milk a day, straight from the farm full fat just pasteurised and for the first time since 2013 I have had 2 weeks being pain free and no meds!!! Just thought it worth a share. I normally have pain daily and flare ups approximately monthly to 6 weeks where I have to have a liquid diet.

Amanda, may I ask what is considered a flare up?   I assumed it was when the pain showed up and lingered, lots of cramping.  Is it more than that?  I have been waiting until the pain goes away to try to add soft foods but the pain/cramping keeps coming back.

Hi for me it is painful cramping, sweats, nausea, tiredness. Some flare ups are worse than others you just need to keep an eye on it in case it becomes diverticulitis. Plenty of fluids, ie water, fruit tea, Bovril anything without fibre then when pain goes introduce fibre back gradually I usually start on eggs and white bread but it's what works for you.

not sure what to consider flare up, I had 3 all in 8 weeks, first in over a year.  Thought at first it was over exercise of lower stomach, then wham hospital, so many drugs, came back twice more. I have to learn to recognise early symptons

Thank you, Ladies.  This is my 2nd flare since May.  I haven't had the nausea/vomiting, thankfully.  Lots of cramping, hip pain, and low back pain.  Finished a round of Augmentin last Wednesday, but the cramping keeps coming back. Not sure when/if to start another round of Augmentin.  Called my Doctor yesterday but they have not called back yet. Will continue clear liquids a few more days.
