I'm a 50 year Physiotherapist who had a right total hip replacement 6 days ago. I'd kept my symptoms under control for 10 years before succumbing to the knife. So far there have been things I would have expected and others that have taken me by surprise like the degree and impact of the swelling. I'm happy to document my progress and my problem solving as I go. Would this be of any value to this community?

Absolutely. It would be great to hear things from a professional physio's point of view. I often think when I go to see my physio and attend hip class that whilst they are very sympathtic they don't really understand what it feels like. They are much better than my consultant though who sometimes seems more like an engineer than a doctor and is only interested in the mechanics of the hip. Maybe that is his job, I don't really know.
Please share your experiences.

Yes - most definitely. I got the impression it hadn't been done before, so I did just that and set up my own website with blogs of my two recoveries (my ceramic acetabular insert was put in on the skew)
Best Wishes

I had a re-surfacing on my right hip three weeks ago, recovery generally going well so far and can now walk without the crutches albeit with little limp. I am 51 and have played sport all my life, althougth I have not been able to run for the past year I have kept fit with cycling and gym work. As you can imagine I have been doing the exercises religiously and started on a static bike after 9 days when the clips were removed. I would be interested in what exercises you are doing and your progess as a comparison.
