Profuse sweating....

Posted , 11 users are following.

since I've been having such a horrible time with profuse sweating, my daughter's been doing some research for me. she happened upon a medication named 'Robinul' which evidently is mainly prescribed for peptic ulcers, but has been proven to be a good remedy for excessive perspiration! it's being prescribed "off label" for that now.

this has been such a HUGE problem for me (wet hair, scalp, and face) terribly embarrassing!!!

has anyone heard of this medication or tried it??

what are your thoughts?

I'm desperate and ready to try almost anything!

side effects??

    Hi lynda62707

I go along with nick don't add to your medication. I can remember sweating profusely when on pred. I thought i was going through menopause again but far worse. I always had a cold air fan at the ready and a small hand held one if i went out and i did drink more water. Hot drinks seemed to make me sweat more. Wear cooler clothes and material i.e. cotton that wont exacerbate the heat. Put cooler bedclothes on your bed, i could not have a duvet on me. Use cotton sheets, pillow cases etc. I just had to find ways to try and keep as cool as possible....this is one of the many side effects lynda which will subside and you reduce to lower dose. Try some of the recommendations offered in the replies.... good thoughts lynda it will get better....👍😊

Lynda, are you being treated for diabetes? Have you been checked? Low or high blood sugar can cause sweating.

Not diagnosing, but I developed diabetes due to prednisone.

No medication is needed, yet, but I do keep tabs on my sugar level.

My dr. diagnosed through an A1c.

    Hi Lynda

I Have the same problem with over heating, its more like a fever.

I am so hot all the time, everything I read says prednisone is the culprit.

Lynda I have to agree with Nick as far as not taking extra medication, also he suggests a wet cloth for your neck, that actually works beautifully.

Also Mary's advice with fans , clothing etc. I have a portable fan the old fashioned type which I keep in my handbag , it's a life saver.

    Good Luck

The more medications you take - the higher the risk of interactions and other problems. You have a range of suggestions - you should try them first.

      Eileen, you are so right.

Prior to PMR I took one pill.

Am on 14 and hate every one.

      Trying to reduce the number!

Even resist the vitamins, but know they are necessary.

Begone, PMR and all the issues that come with it.
