prostate median lobe

I had this median lobe problem which no amount of natural supplements or drugs would solve so eventually surgery was the only sensible option, now when urologists and others say have TURP that may be fine for some but when it comes to a median lobe TURP in my opinion is something to be avoided as they don't always tell you they will cut away a cone shape from your bladder neck which by the way could render you incontinent as one urologist said "we don't know if the lower prostate valve will hold the urine", other urologists will tell you a different story but regardless they will likely slice up your penis urethra to allow room to fit the tooling in and remove a large portion of prostate tissue including the prostate urethra resulting in your prostate now being full of urine 24/7 because they cut away a cone shaped chunk of your bladder neck sphincter valve where the median lobe was blocking up your urine flow and now your prostate is permanently a urine bag with only the lower prostate valve to hold your urine, as a result your sperm now will no longer come out the normal way but will go into your bladder and pass out when you urinate. There is another option called FLA which I had done in Houston by Dr Karamanian who is very good, it is painless and all done in a few hours it is done under mri so he can see exactly and precisely where he has the small laser in this way he removes unimportant tissue and safe guards the bladder neck valve so as to avoid incontinence along with avoiding the problem of sperm going into the bladder and avoiding urethra damage etc as it is done through the rectum not the penis, so the prostate does not become a urine bag it is left unharmed yes it is AMAZING!

there are risks with all surgical options and its up to you to do your home work but I am so glad I avoided turp with a median lobe growth.

    Hi Brian,

I cannot describe how happy I am on your success as I do not want any human to go through what I am going through.

In short I was diagnosed with prostate cancer with a gleason index of 9 and PSA 24. This was 2013 and I opted to radiation (CT guided radiation). Tomotherapy. It went very well for me thank God.

After 3 years I developed bladder stone and my urologist advice for TURP (2016 March). And it went very well a minor leak can have sex. But no semen because of radiation.

Again March 2017 my urine was blocked completely and I had to do an immediate procedure. After that till today I have this leak low to medium and have to use heavy flow pads. Because of this intercourse is non existence but the drive and want is there to be satisfied by other means.

Again March 2018 is approaching and physiologically I am broken down.

Brain I would like to know from your experience and you have met Dr. K, if there is anything that he can do. Is so please guide me to him and his contact. I am from the Maldives living in Kuala Lumpur.

Once again I am very happy for you.

HI Brian  ,  thank you so much  and congratulations smile      My diagnosis  is similar to your  big median lobe  15-18 mm protruding to bladder.  prostate just 50 ml.  Have to self. cath.  every day twice .  Can you give me more info about your diagnosis and FLA treatment ?  Best Wishes, Stan

Hi Stan, I was not at the stage of using any form of catheter but was finding it at times very slow to pee and if I waited too long it was very painful waiting and very painful to pee, the FLA treatment is so easy Dr K ablated the median lobe without harm to my bladder neck or sphincter valve, so everything works well, he also ablated tissue along the urethra, now so much better but now I need to retrain my bladder as it had not been able to do its job being blocked for so long.

Truly the best thing you can do is have a good chat with Dr K, start with an email to him you will discover he is not all about money so yes he will happily talk without having to go through an annoying secretary, he is a very intelligent, knowledgeable, compassionate and highly skilled Dr that can save you from the turp butchers.   Let me know how you get on after you have discussed it with him, kind regards Brian.

Hi Brain, FLA sounds right,to bad it's not covered by insurance . Cost is around $20,000 dollars.

Hi Frank, its a matter of if you can afford the luxury of concluding your future health and saying hey my health is more important. But continue to do your home work because although we are all built the same we are uniquely different when it comes to our particular scenario and outcomes, so have a good chat with Dr K and be thorough with your questions and homework.

Frank, I could not afford to come out of pocket at the time I did my FLA so I put it on 3 credit cards and paid it off rather quickly within the year of 2017. Plus I got some nice Airline Points at the same time. Not that this is a reason to do it. You can then file with your insurance and try to get at least some back.

I can assure you that doctor Sperling has never taught doctor K anything. There are 3 intervention Radiologist that are specializing in prostate procedures Only. I can just tell you this Beware of doctor Sperling.

Karamanian is in Houston, Sperling is in Boca Florida they have never worked together at all. Totally different types of Doctors and men. Call each and you will understand. You should do your investigation.

I don't know of any Sperling patients ever posting on this site maybe there has been but they could not even provide me with a single reference and I tried for months.

Hi Frank,   From my internet study I discerned Dr K or otherwise known as Dr Karamanian in Houston Texas is the one I would trust with my health, his office is (713)904-4014 his assistant is Donnie who is very helpful, FLA is a relatively modern development which is a wonderful alternative to traditional turp  for a median lobe as it does not butcher your important bits, you will find more and more men will be glad to have FLA once they know its available, FLA began through the development of mri machine technology which recently made it possible to precisely ablate unwanted prostate tissue groeth and or prostate cancer tissue under live mri without harming the all important bits, this requires mri knowledge and skills that urologists do not have, Dr K is highly skilled in this modern technology but as I said previously be sure to ask Dr K all your questions and have your medical notes available for him to recommend what is best for you.
