Prostatitis After Oral Sex

Posted , 51 users are following.

Dec 2018 . Had high risk unprotected oral sex. Next day started having pain in my penis particularly the head of my penis. 4-5 days later the pain go to my testicles then prostate. Now, still having issues. i.e Frequent nightly urine, pain in my penis, pain in prostate and legs/thighs, and complete lack of libido/erectile issues. All Stds negative. Any ideas? Should I get semen culture? Everything happened right after this foolish sex mistake. I believe it has to be some type of bacteria or unknown organism. As the issue has caused some irritation on my penis. If anybody else is dealing with similar symptoms or got prostatitis after some type of sex. Please pitch in your own input.

My opinion is that this condition is real and less well studied.

The mouth contains hundreds of bacteria and if you have aggressive oral sex it can be innoculated to the urethra.

This bacteria will not be cultured using normal media for urine and may not respond to UTI antibiotics.

I will be interested to know if anyone tried metronidazole

Just FYI, you started pain the day after sex? It takes multiple days for a STI to make itself known, so it's not an infection from sex. More likely you are experiencing G.A.S.P. (see David Wise's b Headache in the Pelvis)

sorry last question, did anyone here in a monogomous relationship have their partner treated as well (despite negative tests)? did you refrain from oral after this experience?

I’m posting to share my victory over this condition with others who may have lost hope. A few days after receiving oral sex I started having a burning sensation in the head of my penis which then spread throughout my urethra. I also was having difficulty urinating. It was difficult to get the flow started. Later on I developed pain in my left testicle. I got tested for STDs and everything came up negative which came with some relief but still didn’t explain the symptoms. This condition lasted about 6 weeks. I went through 2 rounds of antibiotics despite being negative for bacteria in my urine cultures. After multiple walk-in clinic and emergency room visits I felt quite hopeless because the doctors could only try to treat the symptoms but couldn’t tell me what was wrong. In my own research I discovered that I was suffering from pelvic floor disorder. This is where tension builds up in the pelvic floor muscles and is cause by stress and anxiety. I noticed that the more I worried about the symptoms the worse they got and the worse they got the more I worried about them. it was a terrible cycle. Once I found that this all has been caused by stress and anxiety it took about three weeks for me to be totally symptom-free. Look up the book or audio book "Headache in the pelvis. This book helped me gain insight to this condition where the doctors couldnt help me. my recovery started by accepting my condition and not freaking out or worrying when flareups would occur. additionally I engaged in deep pelvic stretching every day while taking back control of stress and anxiety and keeping those levels low where possible. My prayer is for those who feel hopeless to find hope yet again. Ultimately I believe Jesus has forgiven me of my sexual sin and has led me to healing and wants me to share this victory with others who need hope. God Bless!

hey, Im 24 years old and i wanted to share my own experience. Last year october 2020, i decided to have my first sexual experience which was an oral sex with an acquantaince( we werent friends but we had mutual friends). 5 days after, i started having a constant need to pee and pain after i peed, aswell as bloated lower abdomen. the doctor diagnosed it as bacterial prostatitis and gave me 4 weeks of cipro plus tamsulosin and celecoxib. I felt better but i still feel like i had an infection( bloated stomach and pain after peeing). Went to another urologist who gave me ofloxacin for 6 weeks and tamsulosin. Before treatment, I was in constant anxiety and depression thinking i had some sort of std, My phobia made me paranoid. I did HIV, HSV2, gonorrhea, chlamydia, LGV, syphilis, HEP B, HEP, C ,Bacteria for Donovanosis and other stds, but nothing came up. its been almost a year now and my symptoms have gotten better but i most suffer from chronic non bacterial prostatitis since no bacteria show up and my CBC shows normal results. I have had a swollen inguinal lymph node that ive noticed when i palpated my groin area since the initial infection but just in march i noticed that it hasnt left. It still there even after a year. Its not visible but when you press the groin it causes femoral nerve compression for a few weeks(went to a orthopedist for this) which, reslly didnt help my anxiety at the time. Maybe i made it worse by constantly pressing on it when i just got the infection. My mind is in a better place but i always feel like i have some sort of hidden std because of the lymph node and lingering prostste symptoms. Im getting my HTLV-1 test results today so as to get a clearer mind( i didnt know about that std) because htlv-1 is linked to lymphoma and lymphomas cause chronic lymphadenopathy. My mind just jumps to the worst case scenarios. Its been a year but ever since then ive felt like my life has changed negatively, like i regret it in a way. I know stds are generally less able to be transmitted from oral sex but i always think of the "what if". My urine frecuency and strength is normal but i still dribble a bit after finishing and still get lower abdominal pain from time to time. Any tips on how to deal with those? I suffer from terrible anxiety and stress so maybe those affect my abdominal pain. Im glad that i dont have sexual dysfunctions like pain after ejaculating.

    Hi everyone,

Bringing this thread back to life. After receiving oral sex from a gay man, I started feeling symptoms of an STD almost the next day. 2 Months later, I only feel worse as my anxiety is at an all time high. The main symptoms are discomfort in the tip of my penis, pain and tingly feeling in my testicles, itchy testicles, and now an itchy/discomfort pain in my anus/buttocks. I've seen 2 urologists, multiple doctors, and have done so much blood and urine tests. All tests come back normal. I even did a scrotum ultrasound which is also came back normal. I was given erthomycin in case I had an STD, tried doxy for a week and gave up because it did not help, and then was on Bactrim for a whole month which did not work. Urologist has referred me for pelvic floor therapy. Can anyone help explain why I feel this way, and what kind of treatment finally worked?

    I am so desperate.

a hot bath before taking your antibiotic can better open up the prostate to take in the antibiotic

hi - dont rule out a simple non-sexual UTI cause in prostate, even if urine cultures are clear. you never know

suggest - semen culture at a lab. Various bugs can cause this. E. coli most common. The antibiotic has to be matched to the specific bugs sensitivities.

also suggest giving Dmannose a try from health food store. If it is E. coli it will help with symptoms as it helps flush E. coli out of tract (symtom relief only, it wont cure postatitis - only appropriate antibiotics will do that)

I agree with your scepticism. In fact I often ask a pathology lab to run the tests (that may have been inconclusive) again. Sometimes the second test comes back very different to the first.

Did anyone found the cause or the solution to this? It seems it's a pathogen not yet discovered? I have very strange symptoms that typical prostatitis doesn't

hi mate. my story is exactly the same as yours. the answer is Yes. U can catch bacteria other then typical sexually transmitted through oral sex. The reason why it is not picked up by your GP is because they are doing the wrong test. NHS guidance is also rubbish because is instructing GP to do cheap test first (dip stick test) . It is not accurate enough and only picks up serious UTI . They are looking for UTI symptoms but those are not there yet. Despite the fact that you are having small amounts of bacteria. I'm taking NHS to court over it. GP will not do urine culture test if dip stick test shows nothing. And this is massive mistake. I can bet a house with you that you suffer with chronic bacterial prostatitis. Most likely Enterococcus faecalis or E.coli. The second one is easier to treat. First one much harder. You may have both. Enterococcus over the time destroys kidneys. E.coli may cause sepsis. Do not listen to your GP. They literally know nothing. They will prescribe you cream for rush if you lucky and leave you to die. If you insist for more throughout tests and referral to urologist , GP will mark you in your medical file as a anxiety guy. That will shut down all the doors for ya. Disgraceful but true. First request your medical records. I guarantee you that your urine culture test (if they done one for you ) will state ,, no significant growth ". But your useless GP would tell you that it is all normal/no action needed. Not true. That is only the case if your report states ,, no growth ". No significant growth means that there is a growth (bacteria) but only small quantity which at present doesn't cause UTI (but will do eventually in the future). Your GP should act on it , especially that you have a symptoms. But he will not do anything because he strictly follows NHS guidance without using his brain and is not linking symptoms together to build a bigger picture. That small growth of bacteria will within time multiple and move to your prostate causing acute prostatitis. Then we have up to 3 months to cure it (99% success rate) after that it becomes chronic (about 70% chance to cure it) . Acute prostatitis usually needs 4 weeks of treatment by IV (drip). You may get additional 2 weeks after that with oral medication. Ciprofloxacin is dangerous. It done more damage to my health then the bacteria itself. The longer you are taking it the worst side effects. Some permanent. To have 100% certainty you must do semen culture test followed by Stamey test. In UK its very hard to find urologist who will do it for ya. Good

    Hey man,

    This is what happened.

You had unprotected oral sex. The bacteria from saliva is the point of entrance through your penis. At the beginning stage, it affects your urinary tract. However, as time goes by, it affects your prostate.

This is called bacterial prostatitis. Over time, if left unprotected, it develops to become CBP (chronic bacterial prostatitis).

The reason why some people develop bacterial prostatitis and why some don't, has to do with the prostate wall that you are born with.

If you have a smaller prostate wall by birth, the infected urine can flow back and cause infection to the prostate over time. You need to take a course of antibiotics for CBP (2-6 weeks depending on the severity of the infection). Do not stop the course halfway because it takes about 2 weeks or more for the antibiotics to penetrate to the prostate.

After the infection is dealt with, you will still need to deal with the muscles and nerves around the prostate and perineum. Due to CBP, the muscles have tightened up and the nerves have been affected.

This is why you will experience some pain/discomfort on three areas: penis gland, perineum and anus. When you clear your bowels, the nerves around these areas will be affected too, since they have already been affected by CBP.

Together with the smaller prostate wall, and the tightening of the muscles and nerves due to CBP, you will realise that the flow of urine seems slower and harder to start/stop. To quicken the process of recovery, your urologist can use finger insertion to stretch the muscles around the prostate/perineum area ---- this can cause mind-blowing pain but it is good for you.

Alternatively, you can ask your urologist to provide you with the shockwave therapy to relax the muscles.

Overtime, you will see the difference and be healed completely.

Please... do not have unprotected oral sex after this, since you are vulnerable to infection due to the narrow prostate wall.
