Prostititis never ends

I had prostatitis last year and it was dreadful. I had every symptom there was . It lasted ages and had all sorts of tests including camera down penis twice. All came back clear but they said I had prostititis but antibiotics didn't help much. Eventually it went and now this year it's back . Burning urine on and off . Terrible pubic area pain . Lower back and hip pain and testicular and groin too . Is it normal to come back like this

When I was diagnosed with prostatitis my GP told me that it was basicly a Urinary Tract Infection in males. He said that UTIs are typically a female problem due to the short length of the urethra in women, but that when men get one it usually centers in the prostate; thus prostatitis. It took two rounds of two different antibiotics to get rid of mine. The symptoms I was having I'm sure were made worse by urinary retention. My doctor didn't seem to know enough about it to put 2 X 2 together and figure out how much urine I was retaining after squeezing out about 40 ml. I began doing cic and for the last 10 months the symptomatic UTIs have not been there. I really beleive, as others have said here, that retaining a significant amount of urine and never fully emptying your bladder (like can be done with cic) causes UTIs in men.

Hi Keith what is cic . The pills I'm on at the moment are oflaxilin . They seem to add to the problems . I get cramps and lower stomach pain since taking them so along with the prostatitis pain it's not nice . I have to have a angiogram tomorrow morning and am worried how I'm going to cope as my stomach is always very upset in the morning with these pills

Hi Ray,
This is an old post of mine but I hope it might:

Since my BNI op last September, I'm now free of prostatitis pain and urinary frequency issue has been resolved! I wish you luck - I know just how debilitating prostatitis can be. In answer to your question, yes it is normal for prostatitis to come back - but thankfully it can go again too.

Once you have Prostititis, pelvic muscles maintenance is part of the long-term solution.
