Query 90 degree requirements after posterior THR

Posted , 10 users are following.

Two weeks post THR (posterior), decided to remove raised toilet and stand up unaided.  Big mistake!  It hurt and is still hurting. Pain is bearable and I hope with rest it will subside.  My weight is 52ks so not a problem.  I guess I'm looking for reassurance that things will settle down and that I haven't dislocated "anything".  Happened approx 24 hours ago.

    Hi Geraldine,

I believe it was somewhere between 6-8 weeks when I decided to get rid of the raised toilet seat.  Prior to that it was too uncomfortable to sit at the normal lower level and then try to get up.  The medical team and physical therapist at the hospital also made it clear how important it was to use it for a several weeks after surgery.

Hopefully there is no long term damage.  Probably just stressed out or pulled a muscle.  I'd baby it for a few days, rest and apply ice packs throughout the day.

    Best wishes!
