quetiapine

 I have been taking quetiapine for about 4 months 850 mg along with venlafaxine 150mg, I have put on 2 and a half stone, but my cpn says that the drug is not known to have that effect, but reading your comments I don't seem to be the only one. the drug on the whole seems to be working well but if the weight gain continues I will have to change my meds as that in itself is making me feel depressed!

    Hi

i I have been taking Seroquel XR since early Feb 2014 & was told by my Psychiatrist that it can cause weight gain & has always encouraged me to exercise to keep the weight off. I work full time & although my current job is a physical one I have no time to go to the gym after work & little time at lunch.

I hear you!  I have only been on Q for a couple of weeks and although my appetite during the day is very low, I crave sugar at night.  I do not have a sweet tooth normally but I could eat 2 or 3 chocolate bars in a row in the middle of the night given the chance.  I am very conscience about weight gain so have stocked up on cereal bars.  I take my dose half an hour bef I want to go to sleep and all is good then I wake a couple of hours later with Adrenalin rushes.  I eat a couple of cereal bars and eventually manage to go back to sleep.  I am still on a fairly low dose 125mg daily tirating up to 300 but am wondering if this will increase my appetite.  I, like you, will be even more depressed if I start gaining copious amounts of weight when I am already a little too round for my liking due to all this damn medication.
