Random throbbing head pain and pressure in right side

Posted , 138 users are following.

For over a month now, I've had an infrequent throbbing pain & pressure on the right side of head. It appears randomly, and occurs much more frequently when I'm stressed. Although, when I feel fine it will still appear, just not as frequently.  It's always on the right side of my head, near the top but will occasionally be at the back of my head too. I will feel it every single time when I wake up, without fail. That's the only time I can guarantee it'll be felt.

I've had a CT scan done a few weeks ago which came out completely clear. I was thinking that it was my sinuses acting up, so I went to an ENT (Ear Nose & Throat) specialist, but they couldn't find anything wrong.

I don't know what else it could possibly be. I'm starting to think that it may be my neck, but I'm not entirely sure ...

Anyway, here's a summary:

* Throbbing in head on the right side

* Infrequent (appears at random)

* Appears every day

* Brings my mood down completely whenever it occurs

* Had a CT scan; was completely clear

* Sinuses are completely fine, and are clear

Please help.

    I had pain only on right side and stabbing pains off and on throughout the right side of my head. The pain was getting worse and it seemed to be spreading. Went to UPMC urgent care because it was evening and doctor offices were closed. Had a wonderful doctor assistant who explained to me that I had shingles. It was such a relief to finally find the reason. I was given meds and will follow up care with pcp

    Yes sounds very similar to my symptoms. I have a a nerve block injection done behind my right ear and have reduced my pain.

    Hello, I have been reading all of the answers and just wanted to suggest a potential alternative to brain tumor. Let me be clear, I am not a dr. I have an under active thyroid. When my thyroid levels are low, I get random headaches/migraines. I have low blood pressure and low heart rate. The thyroid controls many parts of your body, so it can impact a lot of different areas. It causes me to be forgetful and has caused damage to my sight. I just wanted to throw this out there because I have 3 teens that inherited my under active thyroid. It showed up at puberty. Please make sure to request this to be checked. It just requires a blood test.
