    Hi mojgan95059,

Before my two total hip replacements, I did not require a crutch, but it was the pain and the MRI picture that showed vascular necrosis that caused me to do the replacements.

It is really up to the individual and what is wrong with the joint and how much pain one can stand. For me even though I Could still walk, the pain I suffered even at night laying down the groin pain was awful.

    Wishing the best!

Before I had my hip replacement, I had terrible pain in my hip, which went down the front of my leg right to my knee.  I also had pain in my knee and felt as if it was going to give way sometimes.  The doctor said the pain in my knee was caused by my hip and I had no cartilage in my hip at all.  Since my operation I have had no pain in my hip, or my leg or my knee and it all feels wonderful.  I can walk with no pain at all and do not need to take any painkillers at all. I feel alive again.

Boy, that sounds great! I was surprised when my doc said it was the hip that had to go because it was causing the knee pain ( and others),

i pray that mine turns out as well as yours-- nice hearing such a good report. Thanks

Yes, I didn't really believe the doctor at first, but it is true.  Good luck with yours.
